The colon is a major part of the digestive system and is important to your overall health. When your colon becomes blocked it can affect the rest of your body by causing toxins and bacteria that would normally be excreted to accumulate in your colon. This bacteria and toxins are recycled back into the body where they begin to affect other bodily organs. This is why colon cleansing is important to your health and why you should keep your colon in good health at all times.

Your diet plays an extremely important role in your colon’s health. Large amounts of white bread, sugar and fat can be major causes of a blocked colon. And just as your diet can cause your colon to become blocked it can also help in unblocking it.

A Homemade Colon Cleansing Diet

There are many products that you can purchase that will give you an effective colon cleanse. If you are looking for a more gentle cleanse or you are easing your way into colon cleansing you may want to consider a homemade colon cleansing diet. While not as effective as some of the products available, a homemade colon cleansing diet can give a slow, gentle cleanse and is ideal if this is what you are after. With the correct ingredients it will help you feel refreshed and renewed, and help you body to get ride of the unhealthy toxins and bacteria.

The first ingredient you want to start consuming more of is some type of probiotic found in yogurts. These can be purchased from your local supermarket. Probiotics are important because they will increase the number of good bacteria found in your digestive system. You will also want to increase your consumption of fiber. You can get this in the form food or some specific products from your supermarket. Psyllium powder is an excellent source and be found at your local health food store, chemist or supermarket.

You should also being to a more healthy, well balanced diet. This means more fresh fruits, vegetables, and whole grain bread and cereals. A homemade colon cleansing diet requires a lot of the body’s water and so you should start increasing your intake of water – at least 6 to 8 glasses per day. You also increase your amount of exercise, if you can manage it.

There are other specific ingredients you can add to your diet that will help the cleanse along. These ingredients include cayenne, lemon juice, grape juice, flaxseed and apple cider vinegar. You can also add specific colon cleansing herbs. These include aloe leaf, cascara sagrada, ginger, cayenne pepper and senna. These herbs can be consumed individually, in capsule form or added to drinks or food.

When you have finished your homemade colon cleansing diet it does not mean the process is over. You should keep your diet well balanced and your increased levels of exercise. This important to ensure that you do not build up toxins and bacteria in your colon again. Also, do not feel afraid to undergo your homemade colon cleansing diet when you need it the future or to use a specific colon cleansing product.
