Are you wondering how it will feel with the wind rushing on your face as you ski down a gigantic mountain? Would you like to see the joy on the faces of your children as they conquer the mountain? Whether you have skiied in the past and now you'd like to take your children for a great trip or it's your first time to ski, there is lots of fun in store.

You can find tons of information on individual resort websites. You can start the planning process by browsing to determine which area of the country and then which resort you and your family might want to go for your family ski vacation. If there are any beginners in the group, you'll want to make sure that there is a ski school or lessons available.

I live in Colorado and over the years have had many visitors that I have taught to ski. I'm not so sure that my students preferred this method. Sometimes, I think, learning to ski is best taught by those that are doing it every day. I'm sure that both my husband and I will never forget the frustration (for him) and humor (for me) when he just decided to walk down the hill after a rough day of learning. Or my brother when he didn't quite have the gist of stopping very well and he went down a slope that I still don't know where he ended up or how we found him.

Depending on the skill level of your group, you'll want to examine the available ski trails. If everyone is a beginner there are resorts that cater to that. Here in Colorado almost every resort has a nice variety of Green, Blue, and Black trails.

Lodging is the next thing to consider. It's important to be comfortable and it's nice to at least have a hot tub where you stay. If you are flying in, you'll want to make sure that there is transportation to and from the slopes each day! Since you will be enjoying the mountains, consider other activities to enjoy too: dog sledding, sleigh rides, snowmobiling, snowshoeing, ice skating, downhill sledding or horseback riding.

There are many things to consider as you plan. Even 10 years ago before the internet had become really popular, anyone that was arranging travel would contact their treasured travel agent whom they had counted on to know the insider scoop. People have switched to accessing their travel arrangements online for access to information, but probably more often for better pricing. In this, we have turned travel into a self serv business, but travel does not really lend itself to that. We may be getting discounted prices, but in return we have sacrificed time, energy and satisfaction. Imagine knowing that no matter where you want to go, how you want to get there, where you want to stay, where you want to play, there's a seasoned travel professional at your service to arrange everything for you and look out for the best price. There still are such places and my recommendation is Platinum One Destinations, a company that has taken all these things to heart and created a solution. It's a travel club supported by top notch customer service. Just like the ski lessons, letting the professionals handle the details give you more freedom to enjoy your vacation. With a stress-free attitude you can concentrate on creating vacation memories that you will remember for the rest of your life.
