With more and more demands falling on us all as we strive to meet the needs and demands of those that are important to us is should become very evident that proper time management is essential to meeting any goal or objective that we have. This is true whether we are talking about what is on our agenda for the day or for our life.

It may seem like an incredibly boring topic that one would not want to waste what precious time they have reading about it. Well, if you want to live a fulfilling life, one that you can enjoy and have the things that you want in, you better sit down for a few moments and read this article.

Time management goes beyond just managing time. It is about making sure that you are getting the most value you can out of your time and that you are using that time to improve your quality of life. What you need to do is become a master of time. By doing this you become the master to your life. Every moment of time you waste, is a moment of your life that you have just thrown away.

Proper time management is the foundation to all habits professional or personal. You must make a conscious decision that it is important to you that you plan your time, your life around what it is you want and or need to accomplish. Until you make that decision you are going to spend each and everyday feeling like you are falling farther and farther behind. Face it, there are only 24 hours in a day and you need to sleep. While technology is amazing they have yet to figure out a way to make our day longer then 24 hours.

The key to proper time management is priorities. Take the time right now to write on a piece of paper everything that you need to get done before you go to bed. Go ahead…alright, you have your list. Now take a moment and put a star next to everything that has to get done now, what are the most important things on the list?

Okay, if on your list you have more then one starred item take a moment and number those from most to least important. This is your list of priorities. I know that you have other things on that list, but all you are going to focus on right now is what you just said was the most important.

Once you have your priorities you need to know how much time each one is going to take. Just because you have your list doesn’t mean that life stops so that you can take care of them. Is there something on that list that has to be done everyday? Ok, set a time aside everyday, the same time that you can get that task done.

Remember the key here is not perfection. The key is that you are using your time in the most effective manner possible.
