Of all the beautiful islands to be found off of the coast of Scotland, the Isle of Skye is one of the most famous. A large number of people choose to visit the island because it offers great climbing and walking. Because of the increased number of visitors to the island when it comes to where to stay in Isle of Skye you have a number of different options available to you.

Along with some hotels, there are also B&B's, self-catering cottages, hostels, camp and caravan sites as well. Below we take a look at some of the accommodation that is available on the island and what each of them has to offer you when you staying at them.

There are some hotels and hostels on the Isle of Skye which only offer their guests breakfast. But there are some which also offer you the chance to eat dinner at them as well. But if you are on a limited budget for your accommodation it is best to stay in one which offers special rates if you select to have both breakfast and dinner at them. But those who are on a very limited budget then you may want to consider staying at one where you only are required to pay for your room whilst you stay there.

However, if you feel restricted by staying in a hotel, hostel or bed & breakfast place then why not consider renting a cottage instead. This is especially good if you are intending to spend a week or more on the Isle of Skye. These are ideal as they provide you with the freedom to do as you please when you want and it is up to you when you get up and when you go to bed.

It is crucial that during the summer season in Scotland that when it comes to booking accommodation you do so well in advance of your trip. If you do not you may well find yourself in a situation where you are unable to get the accommodation that you wanted.

However, if you are intending to visit the island during the colder winter and spring months then you should ensure that you take plenty of warm clothing with you. Also you need to pack a rain coat as at these times of years the rain and snow are likely to be more prevalent.

As with all the kinds of accommodation that we have mentioned where to stay in Isle of Skye there is a good selection of good quality accommodation to choose from. But where you stay will depend on how much you are willing to spend on it and when you are looking to visit this beautiful Island.

If you have chosen to visit the Isle of Skye in the height of the season, make sure that you book your accommodation ahead of time so that you can be guaranteed a place in your preferred location. Out of season, you can probably get away with a more "spur of the moment" decision but it will still pay you to make a phone call a few days ahead to double check.
