Life can be amazing. It is a fact of the human condition. There are family worries, job stresses, and so many other aspects of life that will leave you completely and utterly stressed. For those who are enduring the weight of this stress, the concept of a spa treatment is an ideal relaxation option. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford a spa treatment. However, there is an option for those who do not have the extra money to fork out. This comes in the form of amazing, comforting bath salts.

Bath salt is an interesting mix of ingredients that form a salty, grainy mixture. The individual pours the bath salt into his or her bath for an intensive aromatherapy bath treatment. One of the many aspects of bath salts that make them popular is that they are easily accessible, affordable, and easy to use. The colors of the salts come from the essential oils, which enhance the effectiveness of the aromatherapy. Each color signifies a different plant, flower, or other natural element.

For the innovative individual there is also the option of making your own bath salts. Of course, by reading the ingredients in the average store bought bath salts you will be overwhelmed by such confusing words as Sodium Hexametophosphate and Magnesium Sulfate. These are merely the technical terms for some very basic ingredients, most of which can be found around the average household.

The ingredients are simple enough, and very few. You will either need sea salt (there are quite a few that contain various colors naturally) or epsom salt, lavender or vanilla oil, and baking soda. That’s all! Three basic ingredients to receive the leisure bath of a lifetime! Simply take two cups of the salt, either dead sea or epsom. Epsom is strongly suggested for the effect, which we will explain in a moment. Then mix in two and a half teaspoons of the baking soda. Next, put in about fifteen drops of your lavender or vanilla Oil, either one will do depending upon which scent you prefer. Then mix it all together well, and pour into a glass container for storage purposes. You can also add any other essential oil that you choose.

Now, the reason why you should probably go with epsom salt is the effect. Epsom Salt has a very evident effect upon the human physiology. It relaxes the muscular system while awakening the nerve endings. It truly is an amazing experience. The lavender oil or vanilla oil serves two purposes. First, and foremost, is that of the smell. When mixed with the baking soda and the epsom salt the scented oil’s smell is magnified, yet not so much that it is irritating. The final effect is nothing short of heavenly.

After your very stressful day at work when it seems as if the whole world is against you and one thing after another seems to come at you all the time, enjoy your own home spa treatment. Light up some scented candles in your bathroom. Turn off the lights and run yourself a tub full of hot water. Add your homemade bath salts and just sink down into a world of leisure and relaxation. You deserve it!
