I have over the last couple of days read several articles relating to Easter and found the Easter bunny, chocolate eggs, Easter bonnet parade and egg decorating competition predominantly reign as to being the most prioritized of Easter actions either consumed or participated in at this time. Is this a good thing or bad thing? Well this will depend on what is referred too as bad or good. Should we rejoice by stuffing ourselves with chocolate, should we be happy when hunting for eggs or should we even smile when winning the first prize for best turned out Easter bonnet - when there is so much hurt and anger in the world?

Should we not be marking this time of the year with President Bush who five years ago launched the U.S. invasion of Iraq, Should we not be out looking for Madeleine McCann. How about we all forget Easter traditions and hold a ritual for all those who perished in the 9/11 bombings or those who were killed by the tsunami. Well we could but what would it solve now the damage has been done. These very sad incidents have already happened so therefore to late to prevent. Easter is a religious time when prayers are heard. Let us pray for those who perished, but more importantly pray that all sinners of the world to come together and stop what they do. The outcome of a peace treaty may help those bereaved believe that their loss of a loved one was not all in vain.

This coming Friday there will be no meat on our table in respect to Jesus who fasted for forty days and nights, but there will be chocolate Easter eggs on Easter Sunday. Children will never agree that it is a good thing to give up their chocolate bunnies or eggs even if God himself told them so. Kids are kids and where chocolate is concerned you are fighting a lost cause in trying to do away with tradition.

Keep the kiddies occupied this Easter with some great games

1. Egg Rolling is commonly popular at this time. You need hard boiled eggs and a spoon. You can either have the children roll the egg along the ground to the finishing line or have them balance the egg on the spoon.

2. An egg decorating competition with boiled eggs once again is popular, have mom and dads at the party join in. This is a fun game, however if there is to be a winner there is going to be a loser, kids do not like losing so have some extra treats to give those who were not chosen for first prize.

3. Have a baking competition so as to speak, you the hostess bake sponge cakes and have the children decorate them. Place before them bowls of hundreds and thousands, jelly beans, cream, piped icing etc. This game will give so much pleasure to the Easter baker and eaters, (kids). Have a video camera to hand for all events so you can look back and enjoy every Easter moment. Most video recordings will no doubt of this type of competition more often than not will have scenes that qualify for programmes like "You have been framed".

4. Make sure to have different types of music, although we celebrate the resurrection of Christ - the kids may not see this quite as important for their party until older and may want to sing or dance to nursery rhymes like Humpty Dumpty as opposed to 5 little ducks (chicks) went out one day.
