There are a number of great reasons to visit Las Vegas in February. You can gamble, go to the stage shows, eat at the incredible restaurants, or enjoy the world class shopping. You can take your sweetheart to Las Vegas for a spectacular Valentine's Day celebration. By the end of February NASCAR is in town, along with a few hundred thousand race fans. When you arrive you can take advantage of the warming Las Vegas weather in February.

The normal high temperature on the first day of February is a somewhat brisk 60 degrees Fahrenheit, and climbs to 66 by the last day of the month. The record highs range from 75 to 85. The normal low at the beginning of the month is 39, and is 44 by the end of the month. The record lows as between 17 and 25, although most of those occurred before Las Vegas was developed fully. So you can leave your shorts and your bathing suit home, but you can still encounter some weather that is warm enough to encourage outdoor activities. Bring a light jacket, a heavier jacket, and a hat if you are expecting to spend time outdoors.

Rain is infrequent in Las Vegas at any time, although February can see an occasional run of days where the sun doesn't shine and some rain falls. Snow is extremely rare and has become almost extinct in the past 30 years. The wind can be strong enough in Las Vegas to affect the wind-chill factor, or to ruin your round of golf.

There's a very noticeable difference between a warmer than average February day with little wind, a colder than average day with wind. The warm days are really great, and the colder days verge on being blustery.

It's a lesser-known fact that Las Vegas is the United States city that is closer to more internationally famous parks than any other city in the United States. Death Valley is a 100-mile driver to the west, and Lake Mead and the Grand Canyon are located to the east of Las Vegas. Lake Mead, the largest man-made lake in the United States, is about a half hour drive away, while the Grand Canyon is about 6 hours away, maybe a little more depending on which part you are going to. Death Valley is much more hospitable in February than it is in July, while the Lake may be a little breezy and cool. The Grand Canyon has different weather, depending on whether you are visiting the rim or you are down in the canyon itself.

By the time NASCAR arrives at the end of the month the February weather in Las Vegas can be very pleasant, and give everyone a glimpse of the great weather months to come. So visit Las Vegas in February, the weather is usually pretty good and Las Vegas is great, even on a bad weather day. But also plan on coming back in late April, when the weather is at its best.
