5. What free treatments do I get with your dental insurance plan? Do I at least get two free dental cleanings a year? Do small ticket items like x-rays and fluoride treatments come with your plan?

6. Would I be restricted in my appointments, like, can I schedule my appointments only to specific days and times? Do let me know about the restrictive clauses of the plan you’re selling to me.

7. I know that family plans and joint dental plans are cheaper than individual plans, so, do you have that kind of plan? I’d like to provide dental coverage for all of my family.

8. Does your plan cover orthodontic care? I think my child is going to need braces when he’s older.

When choosing the perfect dental plan, premiums are not always the consideration. Just because a plan is cheap it doesn’t mean that you will get your money’s worth. It always pays to read your plan’s fine print – that’s where you will find the restrictions on your plan. And just because the premiums are cheap, it doesn’t mean that you will get value for your money. Also, you don’t have to hang on to every word of your insurance agent. If you see a plan that seems to fit your needs, check out the company’s track record and see if they have a history of good customer service and paying reimbursements (if yours is a reimbursement plan) on time.
