Wedding photography and videography is what preserves your special event for a life time. There are many photographers who specialize in weddings, but how do you know if you are getting a good photographer.

The only way to know for sure is to see their work first hand. Visit the photographer’s website and check out the quality of his or her pictures. Look at the colors and make sure they are vibrant. Do they have a wide variety of shots. How do the shots look at night time? Night time shots are difficult so consider how much of your wedding or reception is going to be taken in the night time.

A photographer is an artist, and if there is no artistic qualities in the photographer’s work than he or she is probably not a good photographer. Look at the angles and the poses of the individuals. Do the poses look “set-up” opposed to natural. Do the pictures take advantage of the surroundings. Is the bride or groom emphasized properly? Does the picture create a positive feeling when you view them?

You may consider getting an out of state photographer. Sometimes the selection of professional photographers will be limited. Try typing in general terms to a search engine to find a wider selection of photographers. Also consider the areas photographers are in . Some areas primarily have weddings only 3 months a year when it is warm enough. Look into sun belt states like Arizona where photographers have year round experience and who may be more affordable in the summer months.

Also decide how much your budget will allow for. Photographers often times have many packages to suit the needs of a the diverse public. It may be beneficial to tell the photographer your needs and budget and have them recommend the package the feel will suit you best. If you are working with in a budget consider wether quantity of pictures or quality will matter. With my friends and close family members I often only see maybe 3 or 4 of their wedding pictures and that’s it. Basically just the ones they have out. Maybe you will want the photographer to devote more time on only the very best pictures.

Talk to your photographer about their editing methods. Are they just going to give you raw frames or do they digitally process and edit the pictures to color balance and to enhance the picture. What a camera captures isn’t always what is actuality. And sometimes actuality can look a heck of a lot better with the proper editing.

Whatever you decide make sure and talk to your photographer so they know you specific needs. Tell them who is important to you at the wedding, what family will be attending, and who you would like pictures of the most. Make sure and try to schedule day or evening time pictures with the bride and groom so that you will get vibrant pictures. Camera’s perform a hundred times better in daylight. Make sure and ask your photographer when the best time would be to take the pictures. The one thing you don’t want to make a mistake on is the thing that is going to last a life time- the pictures.
