Messy Garage Syndrome is a little-documented illness sweeping the planet. Millions of people all over the world have been affected so far. If you are experiencing any of the following symptoms, you may well be suffering from Messy Garage Syndrome: there is no longer enough space in your garage to be able to park the car in it; you have difficulty accessing the garage because the door will no longer open properly; whenever you go in to the garage to find something it takes what seems like hours, and when you exit the garage is ten times messier than when you went in.

The causes of Messy Garage Syndrome are varied – from having kids who seem to collect junk like it is going out of fashion to your own irrational fear of throwing anything away lest it comes in useful again one day or turns out to be a valuable antique. There is also the creeping onset of that attitude which is unique to those who are lucky enough to have nice big houses with nice big garages: “Well, we paid good money for this space… we might as well use it!”

A friend of mine was afflicted with a particularly bad case of Messy Garage Syndrome, until he found the cure. Garage shelving came into his life just when he needed it most. The symptoms outlined above had become so bad that even walking past the garage brought him out in a cold sweat. And it is amazing how many other people there are who feel the same way.

So now he is like a preacher, telling everyone he knows that garage shelving is the answer to all their woes. It can transform their lives and make them happier and more relaxed people, in the knowledge that everything in their garage is nicely organised. If they need something they will be able to find it, and they will actually enjoy their trip to the garage instead of dreading it.

It is a simple theory really. The problem with most people’s garages is not that they are too small, but that they do not make best use of the space they offer. Instead of utilizing the height on offer, many people would rather lazily allow their stuff to spread horizontally across the garage floor. This is where garage shelving comes in. By providing an efficient (and if you shop around well enough, cheap) way of storing and organizing all the stuff you hoard, garage shelving not only helps make your garage look neat and tidy, it also reduces the high stress levels that are the inevitable result of any trip to the garage.

Whether it is free-standing wooden shelving you are after or metal shelving that can be fixed in place to the wall, garage shelving comes in a wide variety of shapes and sizes to suit your needs. It is also really easy to put together and most companies that sell it will deliver it to your door too.
