Every website’s success depends on choosing good keywords. It is your keywords that make your website show up in a search engine. It’s also an area that’s hotly debated by web marketers around the globe. But, almost all of them agree that it’s critical you choose keywords that are relevant to your site so that you target the right visitors. They will also agree keyword density can be one of the most important aspects of your website.

Whether you sell a product, offer a service, or plan to make your money with Google Adsense, your success is all about your keywords. When a web surfer types in their search words, the search engine brings back sites that match that search. These are based on a website’s keywords. There is a method to generate good keywords that are appropriate for your site. Here are some things to keep in mind.

1. Never choose keywords that are irrelevant to your website. The keywords you choose should be words that describe your website. For example, if your website offers web design products don’t choose the word antique. Seems pretty obvious, however you might be surprised to discover how many website owners use keywords that are irrelevant to their sites.

2. Use keywords, which are in the body of your site. This will increase the keyword relevancy. That does not mean you want to imbed too many keywords in your website. What you want to do is choose words that flow naturally in your content, aren’t forced, and aren’t obviously added simply for the sake of enhancing keyword placement. Keyword “stuffing” or spam is frowned upon by the search engines and if you do it you might be penalized or find your site banned by the search engines.

3.The are four main areas you should consider when you incorporate your keywords into your Meta tag as well as your website body. These are Proximity, Prominence, Frequency, and Density.

a. Density is measured by the number of appearances of the keyword in your website. If your keyword appears 100 times in a 500-word article, your keyword density would be 20%, which is far too high. It should be somewhere between 2% and 6%.

b. Frequency is how often the keyword is found on the webpage. It is felt the more times a keyword appears the more relevant it will seem to the search engine. But if the density is too high, the search engines won’t like it, so you had better make sure you have enough content surrounding the keywords.

c. Prominence is where the keywords are located on the webpage. Use your keywords in your title, in the description, at the beginning of the webpage, and at the beginning of sentences.

d. Proximity refers to how close the keywords are to each other.

Keyword density on your website is important. This is a great start. There is lots of information available online to help you better understand how to get the most out of your keywords. If done correctly your site will reap the rewards of good placement in the search engines.
