In Northern Ireland, car hire allows you to explore a range of locations all across the north. Whether you plan to explore Titanic shipyards in Belfast, leap to the Giant’s Causeway or worship the Kingdom of County Down, you’re guaranteed to find the best travel experiences with a rental car.

Northern Ireland makes for the ideal touring destination and the reasons are manifold. Dramatic coastlines, gently rolling glens, fairytale castles, vibrant village and lively cities are just some of the sights you’ll experience on a visit to Northern Ireland. The home of Saint Patrick and the mythical Finn McCool exudes a brooding, mystical quality, quite absent from many other drive destinations. Perhaps it’s the striking Mountains of Mourne and glacier-carved Glens of Antrim, or it could be the enigmatic Giant’s Causeway, with its iconic Basalt columns. Whatever it is, you’ll find Northern Ireland certainly makes for an excellent place for a scenic drive. In terms of picturesque backdrops, Co Down has them by the bucketful-and it’s not just the beaches! The region is recognised around the world as an area of outstanding natural beauty. A car hire drive here will take you through seemingly infinite coastlines, sleepy fishing villages, misty loughs, enchanting forests and the Mountains of Mourne, so captivating, that they’ve been immortalised in song. Along the way, you’re bound to want to capture the beautiful views with your camera and car hire makes it simple to do so.

Heading northwest, you’ll encounter the fascinating walled city of Derry, also known as Londonderry. If the said walls could speak, you’d hear fascinating tales of dramatic sieges and epic battles. A guided tour is the next best thing and an excellent way to gain an insight into the history of one of Ireland’s oldest inhabited towns. The city also has a proud cultural heritage, being the home of an impressive range of musicians, artists, poets and arts festivals. Crossing the Sperrins, the bright lights of buzzing Belfast beckon. The city that has seen its fair share of troubles over the years has emerged as an exciting short break destination. Today, a visit to Belfast offers the chance to discover Belfast’s Titanic links, legendary ‘craic’ and warm hospitality.

As a car hire destination, you’ll find Northern Ireland provides plenty of desirable outdoor attractions as well as a good range of rainy day activities too. Having safely parked the rental car, it’s easy to partake in a spot of hiking, fishing or indeed a scenic coastal walk. With car hire you’re spoilt for choice in terms of fun activities. If you’re looking to learn something about your Irish roots, be sure to make a day-trip to Ulster Folk and Transport Museum. Other heritage sights worthy of an excursion include Lagan Lookout visitor centre and the wonderful Ulster-American Folk Park. Some of the finest scenic drives on the island of Ireland are to be found in Northern Ireland. The famous Causeway Coastal Route is regarded as an essential journey and includes the Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and the Giant’s Causeway, a curious natural phenomenon of 40,000 interlocking basalt stones.
