Affiliate programs are a hot online fad in today’s world. Type in affiliate programs in Google and see how many search results popup. Well if you don’t have time to type it in I’ll do it for you! There are currently 15,000,000 search results, yes, fifteen million. Why are affiliate programs so popular today? Well, they encompass two things that make a perfect package; you get paid when you sell the product and the company gets its share too. So, you have companies wanting money and you have people (affiliate marketers) wanting to make money for the companies for a share of the green, ah, the bliss.

I only wish affiliate marketing were more “newbie” friendly. With every legitimate affiliate program on the web there are two programs trying to scam you out of your hard earned money. Type in internet scams and you’ll get close to one million results, it’s a sad thing, yes, but people are selfish and if you choose to dive into this world you’re going to have to be pretty resilient. If you let your competitors or a small setback make you quit then you have only let them win.

I’m writing this in hopes that you will make an educated decision on whether affiliate marketing is the right route for you. It’s a kill or be killed world and thousands have tried and only a handful have successfully risen to the “super affiliate” status. Although this world is tough there are very small steps you can take to rise above some of your soon to be less prepared competitors. There are programs that give you the edge and not all are scams.

Affiliate information products and programs have been around ever since the word “affiliate” has been spoken. But again remember that for ever 1 legit program there are 2 trying to rip you off. I’ve been scammed myself, a few times. It is one of the most horrible feelings when you realize that you have spent money and not received what was promised. There area few simple rules to follow to not get scammed!

1-Make sure the website looks legit, lots of advertisements on a website are a bad sign that the owner is just trying to monetize his or her site for their own good.

2-Make sure there is some sort of email or phone number, when you buy something and you can’t quite figure out how it ticks you need an actual person to talk to. This one is KEY. No contact info, DON’T BUY!

3- Some of these products that you see do sound a little good to be true, well; it’s just a method of advertising. Affiliate marketers are trained to excite the emotions of a potential buyer and telling someone they will make $1000 a day and not $75 dollars a day is going to set of some emotional response which could potentially result in a buy. I have reviewed several of these products, I’ve tried more then I would like to admit and there are a few that don’t lead you on and actually have the potential to deliver what they say on their sites.

Affiliate marketing is an excellent way to make some extra cash online but make sure you are prepared and DO NOT rush into things.
