Night vision cameras are the security cameras that allow you to capture the video in the night. Night vision cameras can see a view even in total darkness and can shoot the video with clarity. Many night vision cameras have infrared illumination, which helps in shooting clear pictures in the area with no lighting conditions.

Night vision cameras come in color as well as black and white. Colored night vision cameras are capable of taking black and white pictures in the night. These colored cameras automatically switch to black and white mode in the night. Night vision cameras can record the video regularly. There are wireless night vision cameras also available, which can be kept anywhere near the area you want to do the recording.

Night vision camera is used for different purposes like providing security to business, military area, and home. Some of the applications where night vision camera can be used include:

• Night vision cameras are used to provide security to the external area of a building.
• These cameras can be very useful to keep a watch on a baby sleeping in a dark room.
• For detecting criminal activities.
• Night vision cameras can be of great help for people, who need to walk in the area with total darkness. These people use night vision binoculars to find the way.
• To provide security to the area with low lighting conditions.
• For securing stores in the night.
• For military purposes.
• For finding out terrorist activities.

A night vision camera can amplify light and does not require any other source of light. A night vision camera converts the little light available in the surveillance area into electrical energy. For the places with no lighting conditions, a night vision camera with infrared illuminator is required. Infrared illuminator provides light to the camera and then camera intensifies that light for taking clear shots. Human eye can not see infrared light and hence people do not come to know about it. A night vision camera without infrared illumination can only capture the video where some light is available. However, it is not necessary that the surveillance area should have lot of light as night vision camera can intensify the little light available. Night vision cameras can even see what is not seen by a naked human eye.

Night vision camera generally comes with adapter which has to be plugged in a socket. Audio and video cable of the camera should be attached to the monitoring device. Wireless night vision cameras work on battery and hence provide greater mobility. One can even keep a wireless camera in the pocket for shooting.

Before deciding to buy a night vision camera you should know the purpose of buying it. Do a survey and find out the available options for night vision camera on the internet and the local stores. Check the lighting conditions of the area, where you want to set up a night vision camera. Compare prices and features and then decide which night vision camera will fit in your needs and budget. Do not get tempted to buy a cheap night vision camera unless it suits your requirement.
