Some things in life cause worry and sleepless nights. Unstable mountains of stuff are one of those things. What stuff? Mountains of boxes perhaps. Shops and other industrial places often pile boxes during storage, but this is bad planning on two counts. One, how are you going to get at the box at the bottom of the pile when you need it. The answer is with great difficulty, wasting lots of your time, and expending excess energy. Your arms and spine are not going to like you at the end of the day. Two, how do you know that the boxes at the bottom of the pile will support the boxes on top?

Generally you cannot know this. You do not want to walk into work one morning and find that the bottom boxes have collapsed and let the top boxes topple over creating chaos. You will lose items, and worse some pieces will probably be damaged. You could avoid all this hassle and worry by investing in some racking. Racking will allow you to organise your crates and keep your stock safe and in order. In fact, before you got racking how did you manage to stock take and keep your stock flowing smoothly? Maybe you did not have order in the stock room and were amazed when your whole business benefitted.

Racking can also be helpful for oddly shaped items such as skis, cycles, or wooden planks. Long articles like these are difficult to handle if you try to store them vertically, if that is at all possible. These things can even be dangerous to manoeuvre. The image of a person carrying a plank of wood banging into buildings and other people is an age old slapstick routine. But you need never let health and safety slip when there is vertical racking. Vertical racking will keep your cycles, planks, and skis upright safely. You won't have to worry about your freestyle vertically stacked wares doing giant dominoes all over your warehouse at night.

Finally racking is essential for items that need to be hung, usually clothing. You cannot leave clothes lying in piles either in the stock room or on the shop floor. Some clothes are styled in a creased look, but most are not. Customers will never want to buy clothes that need ironed before they are worn. Clothes shops without racking may as well write discounts tickets on every item because garments displayed on shelves will fall on the floor and be trodden on, or be crumpled into bundles by shoppers as they browse. Tables and shelves have some display value, but where would fashion be without clothing racks.

Racking might not be the storage solution that comes to mind first, but in many cases it is essential. Plus, it comes in many colors and finishes so that on the shop floor your racking allows your products to stand out. The internet has a wealth of websites offering racking, hunting down the perfect kind for your business is down to you.
