Why would anyone intentionally start an online business?

Think about it, there are no guarantees, no standard perks, long hours, unlimited second guessing, an infinite amount of paperwork, quarterly taxes, ample opportunity to worry, supply issues, customers who may be unhappy and at the end of the day you may have worked for less than minimum wage.

So why do it? Why become involved in ecommerce?

Maybe because inside every individual there is the urge to be a part of something bigger than themselves. There is a drive to find a purpose that helps define who you are. There is a desired legacy you want to leave and you may not have found the means to define that legacy.

I believe most people who become involved in ecommerce have an understanding that they are entering a world that is filled with the most difficult work of their lives. I think they also know this may also be the most personally gratifying experience they will endure.

The world of ecommerce isn’t just about the potential to make money it is also about finding that place that every child experiences when they say, “When I grow up I’m going to be ___________.”

Ecommerce holds the key to fulfilling long held dreams and childlike wonder. It blends the magic of childhood with the sensibilities of those full-grown and reignites a passion for life.

Imagine ecommerce as someone sent by the president with a full pardon. This is what it can seem like to those who feel trapped in the world of 9-5. Ecommerce opens the jail cell of work and suggests that you try your hand at something you’ve always wanted to do.

It can be frightening to consider the possibilities and it can be frustrating to always stop short of putting feet to an idea.

Why do you think so many adults still gravitate toward the cartoons of their childhood? These visual events take them to a place where they were invincible and they always had the best ideas. This place reminds them of everything enjoyable about life and the friends that made life worth living. It might even remind them of summer days and the sheer joy of believing the impossible was – possible.

Ecommerce dares the individual to rethink priorities and reexamine goals. Ecommerce is the tire swing in Grandpa’s backyard tree that promised the moon if you just kicked a little higher. Ecommerce is the smooth blend of honey and butter on a warm piece of cornbread; sweet and satisfying.

Why would anyone intentionally start an online business?

Maybe because the world needs the infusion of a childlike dream, and if they don’t then you do. Ecommerce looks you square in the eye and says, “Follow me. I dare you. I double dog dare you.” How you refuse the invitation?

If you’ve ever wanted to take your shoes off in a business meeting. If you’ve ever wished you could be happy without feeling like an oddball. If you have ever wanted something more out of life, ecommerce says, “Come with me. Have I got a surprise for you.”
