Since 1492 when Columbus landed in San Salvador, the Bahamas has been an enduring tourist destination. If your Bahamas vacation takes you to just one island or to many islands as part of a cruise you’ll enjoy yourself. Between the alluring beaches and the fun activities boredom is not an option. The kids’ activities, boats, water sports, and special tours ensure that there is plenty to do. A lifetime of memories will be yours no matter how you spend your Bahamas vacation.

Don’t leave the Bahamas without experiencing the many aspects of Island culture. With its long history of colonization and piracy the culture incorporates African and European influences. Junkanoo is a unique celebration that you should not miss. Similar to the festivals of Mardi Gras and Carnival it is an energetic and colorful parade. You’ll enjoy the bright costumes and rhythmic dancing to cowbells, drums, and whistles. Because of its roots in the tradition of giving slaves several days off at Christmas, this is the time of year you’ll most likely experience this. However nowadays you can enjoy a Junkanoo summer festival. You and your kids will have great stories to share about this fun spectacle.

Your kids will really enjoy their trip to the Bahamas. There are so many educational and delightful things to do that they won’t care that they can’t see Blackbeard these days. You’ll be able to find a mix of exciting activities like banana boat rides and more educational tours. Island cultural events like fish fries are a great way to entertain your kids. The bigger islands have traditional kid activities such as mini golf. If you want to cut out on your own with other adults, the large hotels have kids clubs and babysitters. Your Bahamas vacation is just the ticket for wholesome fun.

Most traditional vacation destinations have a lot of tour options and the Bahamas is no exception. With so many activities you will not be bored. Your options run the gamut from self-directed horseback tours to organized historical tours. This area is one of the most beautiful in the world. To really experience the unique flora and fauna of the Islands take an eco-tour. You can also have fun watching dolphins swimming free on some special tours. You are sure to find a tour to meet your need s however you want to spend your Bahamas vacation.

Clear water and pristine beaches are what most people think of when they think of the Bahamas. This is the clearest water you’ll find with visibility of over 200 feet. If you just spend your whole trip relaxing on the beach you’ll be missing out if you don’t get into the water. Many visitors return year after year for the amazing scuba diving. If you go out to the outer islands you must arrange your own tank refills and equipment.

For a truly complete trip to the Bahamas you must get on a boat. You’ll find many different ways to get out on the water such as large charter boats and kayaks. Renting a boat to explore the islands and cays is a great option. There are also special cruises available such as a booze cruise.

You’ll find exactly what you are looking for on your Bahamas vacation. From more sedate days lounging on the beach to more high-octane adventure there are plenty of choices. Your family will have a trip of a lifetime even if you don’t get to all 700 islands. The hospitable people and clear water are truly unique to this amazing area. A trip to paradise is yours on your Bahamas vacation.
