Selling artwork at online art galleries is in, selling artwork at local art galleries is out! Online art galleries are one of the most profitable means of investment and selling limited edition artwork is a great place for this. Now selling artwork online involves a few things. You need to be completely honest about the work that you are trying to sell to potential buyers. When a person is buying a piece of art, it is a very emotional buy and usually has to do with culture and other societal influences. The potential buyer usually feels an emotional attachment to the piece of art they are looking to purchase. Once you start selling pieces of art to a buyer and they are happy with it, you are going to get a lot of return business I guarantee it. That's why the initial purchase is the most important where you need to be completely honest about the condition, size, and artists background. Your initial sale will lead to future sales because people feel good and comfortable about doing business with someone they already have done business before with and had a great experience.

You also want to be as graphic as possible when you list your piece of art for sale. Please make sure that you have listed all the important information about each piece of artwork. Give the potential buyer as much information as possible and do not leave anything out. The questions the potential buyer will have will be cut down tremendously. Giving the buyer the small, yet important facts will help you sell the piece of art. This includes size, price, framed/unframed, subject matter, and date created. You also need to include what this piece of artwork means to you and what challenges you incurred when creating it. The potential buyer will feel an emotional attachment to the piece of artwork and begin to understand and have the same feelings you do, which could lead to a nice sale. You also need to include all paperwork that goes with each artwork purchase. Having a piece of artwork documented will alone increase the price of the artwork. The documentation of artwork will be passed along from owner to owner just like the title of a car.

When sending the artwork to the buyer, you need to include the paperwork in a folder which is neatly organized. A neatly organized folder with the author's bio, history, etc.. well outlined and YOU'RE business cards are a great selling tool to get repeat customers. Once you sell a piece of artwork you possibly have a lifelong customer for years and years to come. That is why being honest and well respected will be the key to your success in this business. The first time you rip someone off, it will spread like a wildfire and you're name will be tarnished. In whatever route you take in selling artwork I wish you the best of luck. Selling artwork is a huge market and being honest will get you a long way!
