The dot com era held its reign from 1995-2001 and it was a magnificent time for many people financially. There were new internet based companies emerging daily who were all trying to grab a piece of this new way to make money. There were so many people that were rushing to grab on to this new idea that many businesses did not focus on standard business models but instead on increasing market share at the expense of their bottom line. This soon lead to the burst of the dot com bubble, which has not ever recovered to the point it was in the mid 90s to early 2000, but having a home based business is still possible. There are several different components you will need to be successful though. I will just be focusing on one of them today.

Mastering this one component can make you wildly successful or unbelievably unsuccessful. If you learn how to master this one technique, you can basically have your own money tree growing right outside your house; waiting for you to pick off your hundred dollar bills each day. So the secret is… are you ready…. build your list. Yes, it is that simple but can be very difficult to do if you do not have the right resources. The key to your success is to have a list of opt-in subscribers, establish trust with those subscribers, and then send irresistible offers to your list.

Another very important component that you must have along with your list of opt-in subscribers is an autoresponder email service to capture your subscribers and that will follow up with them with pre-written articles and product offers that earn commissions for you. This is the key to having a completely automated business. This system works for you 24 hours a day seven days a week. It does not need any health benefits, breaks or a lunch hour. It is always on time and for the amount of profits it could generate, it pays for itself. There are several different auto responder services that are available to choose. I have seen Aweber used frequently and GetResponse. The most important thing to remember is to have opt-in subscribers that are time stamped and have IP addresses, so you are not accused of spamming, which is a very serious accusation.

Another important thing to remember is to not abuse your list. Treat your list like it is your best friend or a close family member. Any offer you are going to propose to your list, make sure it is an offer you have tried and know is a good investment. Also, do not overwhelm your subscribers with messages. Send out valuable information that you would want to receive. If you value your list, slowly you will begin to build trust with your subscribers and soon your list will grow and so will your online business. The important thing to remember is, any business online or offline can be extremely challenging to make successful, but if you have the dedication, drive, and motivation, you can make it happen.
