When you think about pay per click marketing, the first thing that you need to think about is where you are going to put it. Ideally, the place that hosts your pay per click ad is one that is seen by a number of people. You'll find, though, that numbers are less important than relevance; what good does it do you to have your ad seen by thousands of people if not even one of these people are really interested in what it is you have to offer?

One site that practically guarantees relevance is Google, with its Google AdWords program, which is why this advertising opportunity is so popular among marketers. Essentially, with Google, your ad will show up only on searches that are somehow relevant to your site or your work. You will decide what words that you want your ad to show up on, and whenever anyone uses that link to get to your website, you'll need to pay Google, the host an agreed-upon sum.

As you might realise, there is some trial and error before you get to use this system to the limit of its potential. You'll find that you may need to experiment with the wording of your ads, as well as figuring out what keywords to have it show up on. You'll find that you also need to set up a daily budget and work with it; essentially, you will decide that you only want to pay your advertising host a certain amount of money per day before you want your ad to stop showing up. You'll find that this will let you figure out what works and what doesn't.
