Summer is the time for sun and fun. Probably water play too. On a summer vacation, you are likely to spend time by the pool or at the beach. Swimming and water sports are amongst some of the fun things to do in summer. Then there is the possibility of a summer romance.

So what do you bring along when you go on a summer holiday?

Not so much that you would hurt your back when you lift the luggage. Maybe a gallant guy might help you with your bags, but don't bet everything on that. Yes, I know there are luggage sets on wheels, but that's besides the point. You'll find it easier if you travel light. Travel smart. At the same time, travel in style.

Plan a capsule wardrobe for your summer vacation. What is the color you look best in? Plan your entire wardrobe around that color so you'll look amazing throughout your vacation. If you look great in black, go for black as that is an extremely versatile basic. If you look better in white, then make it white. If you have a specific color that makes you look stunning, then get whatever you can in that color, be it blue, red, green, yellow, orange, brown or gray.

For simplicity, let's say you chose black. Bring along a black swimsuit or bikini (or both if you intend to make it a very long break.) Pick one that flatters your figure. The swimsuit that shows off your figure best. Maybe something with a plunging front if you have an impressive cleavage, or with high cut legs to show off great legs and to make them look even longer. Who knows? You could catch the eye of that gorgeous lifeguard.

As it is a summer vacation, you are likely to spend plenty of time by the beach or the poolside. Don't forget a pretty pareo you can use as a cover up. If your basic color is black or white, a brightly colored pareo with pretty prints would look fabulous. You also need movie star sunglasses to protect your eyes and sexy beach sandals. Get your manicure and pedicure done a day in advance and bring along nail polish in that manicure color for touch ups and a clear nail polish to refresh the manicure as it dulls over time. Most importantly, you need a bottle of sunblock lotion.

You might want to indulge in sight seeing as well. Then there may be dinners at a dress-code restaurant. Especially, if a summer romance crops up. Bring along a black dress, a long black skirt, a black camisole, a black tank top, a black pair of shorts and a black pair of pants. For your feet, you will need a comfortable pair of black walking shoes and a pair of sexy metallic heels.

Everything black (or whatever color you chose) can be boring. So bring along a shirt, a blouse and a tank top in colors that look great with black, and which look good on you. On top of that, a pair of comfy jeans and a pretty skirt in bright colors that go with your black camisole would give you a gorgeous selection of flattering outfits.

If you plan on a long holiday, then bring along some detergent in a spill-proof bottle so you will always have clean clothes to wear. You can mix and match the ones you brought for a huge selection of stylish outfits throughout your vacation.

Earrings do not take up much space, so bring along a few pairs to accessorize your outfits. You can always keep them in a small purse. You could wear a stack of bangles when you start out on your vacation. Those bangles can give you that flirtier image, great for a possible summer romance.

When it comes to bedtime, you would want something comfortable. 3 sets of pajamas are all you need as you can wash one set, wear one set and have a third set handy in case of accidents.

(Substitute your chosen basic color for black in this entire list.)

Don't forget the underwear. Go for 5 pairs of thong panties that would spare you the visible panty line that can spoil your look. 2 strapless bras to go with your strapless tops or dresses. 2 comfortable pairs of sports bras for when you wear your t-shirts or tank tops and engage in summer sports.

Get travel sized bottles for your toilletries. Transfer shampoo, conditioner, shower gel, moisturizer, a tinted moisturizer that can double up as foundation, cleanser and toner into handy travel sized bottles that are spill proof. For added protection, seal those bottles and your bottle of detergent in a plastic bag or a waterproof pouch so that should the bottles burst, your clothes wouldn't be ruined.

As for makeup, less is more. Bring

* A bronzing powder you can use as eyeshadow and blusher.
* A lipstick in a color that looks great on you and a lip balm with spf15.
* A waterproof mascara for when you are in the water.
* An eyepencil for when you go sightseeing.

These wouldn't take much space and let you look your prettiest throughout your vacation.

If you have space, even if food and drinks will be provided bring along a bottle of mineral water and a cereal bar which you can carry on the go.

For first aid, a small bottle of lavender oil would take care of burns, cuts and minor wounds as well as provide a relaxing scent for your bath.
