5 Ways To Save Money On Groceries With Coupons

Are the ever increasing costs of products leading you to think about ways to save money on groceries with coupons? Whether you are new to using coupons or a casual clipper, use these easy tips below to become a pro.

1. Develop a system for organizing and using your coupons. You can develop the system in any way that is most convenient to you or you can purchase a coupon organizer. One simple, cost efficient way to do this is to use an index file box with dividers. The dividers can be marked by type of product such as cereal, cleaning products, paper items, etc. Then you could have a divider in the front for coupons which are soon to expire so you know at a glance which coupons need to be used immediately. By having a system in place, it will make it easier save money on groceries with coupons.

2. Start a price book. A price book is a just a list of prices for the items you normally purchase. You can easily make your own price book or purchase one. To make your own price book, you could get a small notebook and gather your grocery store receipts. List the items you purchased along with the prices. You may also want to note the date purchased and if the item was on sale. By keeping a price book, you will be able to follow price trends at your favorite stores as well as compare prices for items from several stores. This will help you save money on groceries with coupons by knowing where and when the best time it will be to use your coupons.

3. Shop for sales items, "loss leader" items, and buy one get on free items. If you use your coupons on items which are on sale, or "loss leader" items which the store has dropped the price to entice you into the store to shop, or on items which are buy one get one free, you will save so much more. Check your newspaper for items to be on sale that week to know which items to purchase using your coupons.

4. Shop at stores that double the coupon face value. There are several store which will double the face value of the coupon up to an amount according to the store policy. If you have used your price book to track sale trends, what for sales, buy on get one free offers and loss leader sales and then are able to use your coupon at double the face value, think how much you could save on groceries with coupons.

5. Use a store discount card. Many stores now offer a VIP or preferred customer card which will offer discounts for being a card holder and the cards are usually free. By using your card with the coupons, you can get even more savings.
