If you live near a wooded area or your house has a killer view, then why not consider having large windows that allows the light from the sun to flow through the house. It also allows you to view your surroundings if you happen to be a nature lover. Want sunlight but also need privacy, as with skylights there are models of these windows where tracks are left for the installation of mechanized or manual sun shades. You can even get them tinted so they reflect the heat but allow some of the light to pass through minus the UV rays of the sun. Also, Choose high windows if you live in the woods so when you open them more fresh air can get in. Group several small windows into one large cluster to give an unimpeded view of your house and you get free light all day long.

If you live in a sunny part of the world, then a skylight would save you a lot of heating and cooling costs, and best of all you don’t contribute to global warming. There are manual ones and there are mechanized ones you can open or shut as you please to maintain the right amount of light and heat inside a space. There are even models that have a separate shade that rolls down to shield you from the suns not rays during the hottest times of the day. If you need privacy, install those newer ones that have opacity adjustments or chose frosted glass for a diffused effect that makes the incoming light cooler to the eye.

If the closet space is under the counter, there are specific models that have wedges cut out of them to allow then to swivel flush with the corner space. You can have the cabinet doors attached to them so they look natural when stowed away not giving any clue to the huge amount of stuff they hold. Suzan’s are nice for they give you lots of storage space you can sometimes even adjust to the heights you need. Several metal shelves allow storage of heavy goods and other grocery items keeping them out of view for a clear clutter free kitchen.

Ever wonder what’s under the corner of your counter top that goes on a right angle? Well, if the drawers and other storage space all face in the same direction, then there’s nothing there. If you want to use that square meter or so of space that is wasted, try to look for corner Suzan’s. Remember that round thingy’s in the middle of the round family tables of old; they were called lady Suzan’s for they allowed everybody on the table to reach everything on that round table that swivels around. Now add a couple of layers and you have a corner Suzan that would fit most corners with an angled door.

Ever had a closet you never seem to fill to capacity, always half filled and with the top part serving no purpose, then you can get one of those kits that have sliding trays mounted onto the walls of a cabinet or space to allow use of that top half. Better yet, why not divide the space into three layers if it is tall and wide, you get more storage for the same space with only minimal labor you yourself could install. Another way to maximize drawers is to have those nifty wooden or plastic dividers that have several trays you can use to organize your drawer. If the drawer is quite large, then a second layer can be added with a slide out tray similar to the ones used on closets but shallower to allow them to fit in drawers.
