A family owned Bed and Breakfast Inn which could and perhaps should describe itself as a small and intimate hotel could be a great place to spend an affordable vacation on Antigua.

The Inn La Galleria with 12 rooms is located on the north west coast of Antigua with absolutely spectacular views over Deep Bay. It sits high on a private hilltop and yet one of the best beaches in the world is only a five minute walk down the hill, where you will land and water sports and restaurants.

This small hideaway hotel is best suited to couples who don’t mind getting out and about to explore the island and its wonderful white sand beaches, and who are looking for personal touches, and not the sophistication of a five star but completely plastic resort. It is the ideal base for people who like to engage with the local community and are happy to stay in quite basic accommodation because the quality of the room isn’t the important thing, provided it is clean, because it’s the experience that counts.

At an average year round price of $82, this Caribbean Inn called Inn La Galleria has to be a bargain in anyone’s language. In terms of accommodation, the rooms are kept spotless you can choose from Standard Rooms with a double bed and wonderful views to the village below.

The DeLuxe rooms are larger with two double beds and some have a kitchen with either spectacular ocean or village views.

The Gallery Ocean view Rooms are the largest rooms which may or may not have a kitchen and a patio, but have views to the ocean. All the rooms are air conditioned, have a mini fridge, and satellite TV, and overall the owners have very successfully turned Inn La Galleria into a real home from home such is the welcome and the hospitality.

The breakfasts are wonderful, and you realize why this bed and breakfast inn has such a good reputation. After a quick walk down the hill to the beach which is shared with the hotel down the hill and a swim in the turquoise sea, off the white sand, the breakfast choice could be fresh fruit, omelet, bacon, and toast. The tea and the bacon will both be English by the way.

What a perfect start to the day, and then your hosts will help you plan the day.

This is what makes a family owned establishment so much better, and Belgrove seems to know everything you need information about which is fantastic. The public areas are on two levels with spectacular views over Deep Bay and the Ocean, and you are very welcome to spend as much time as you want relaxing. This of course is what makes it a small hotel and not so much a bed and breakfast inn which always has connotations of having to leave after breakfast!! In fact it is well worth having other meals at the Inn. Patricia is an excellent cook, and she gets help from a local restaurant chef, so you can have excellent meals if you ask.

Inn La Galleria has no pool or facilities like that, but you can use larger hotel pools and sunbeds for a fee if that is what you want.

You can have a brilliant and very affordable vacation based at Inn La Galleria. This is far more than a bed and breakfast inn, it is an absolutely lovely family owned small and intimate hotel, just a perfect place to launch yourself into life on Antigua.
