Do you want to know about a great free way to make your business really take off? Now, any small business owner or affiliate marketer can use the Internet without spending a penny, and spread word about their product/service, just by adding one small thing to their site.

Though the word Viral suggests a virus - something dreaded by computer users around the globe - it actually means something quite different, something very positive for all business owners and marketers. Serious internet marketers, affiliates, etc. all benefit from learning how viral marketing actually works.
With the Internet and all the competition these days, one needs to be a bit more creative to lead the race in getting customers, especially with home based businesses, or affiliate marketing. New ways of marketing need to be employed - all the best tools, tricks and technology utilized.

Even if you are promoting a great product and have a fabulous web site, if no one visits your web site, your home business will fail. When a site has more traffic it gets higher popularity ratings – giving it a higher placement on the search engines – what every marketer wants!

Microsoft was one of the first large organizations to successfully implement a viral Internet marketing strategy, via Hotmail, and greatly increased their sales through this strategy. Now viral marketing is proving to be one of the top Internet marketing strategies to successfully build and develop a business.

But what does a virus have to do with marketing? Viral marketing is any strategy that encourages individuals to pass on a marketing message to others, with potential for unlimited exposure. Like actual computer viruses, this strategy enables an ad to sweep across the Internet, reaching thousands, even millions of potential customers around the world. A carefully designed viral marketing strategy spreads outward extremely rapidly, like the waves that spread across the water from a single pebble thrown in.

Viral marketing can build public awareness of a product or service, and reach potential buyers without actually promoting the product directly. When it is done properly visitors to a site are entertained, or informed about something they feel will be of interest to others, and are happy to pass it on; and the ad for a product or service goes along with it, getting a free ride.

Simply put, if visitors like the free downloadable content provided, they will pass it on to their friends and family – inspiring story, amusing video, cool new game, which when passed along from computer to computer, also take along your logo or product details, etc. In effect, by passing on the free content you give them on your site, each person is telling a friend about you, and that friend tells another friend, and so on…

Naturally some viral marketing strategies are going to work better than others. A successful strategy will involve giving away free products or service that will be easily sent on to others that responds to current desires, and preferences over the Internet.

The beauty of viral marketing is very popular is its low, or no cost, and importantly, it avoids spamming as the free ad is sent from each person to someone they know, and the message is not blocked. These require little input once set up, and can be as easily set up as adding something free to an article.

The bottom line is that viral marketing on the Internet is a wonderful way to advertise your product or service, as others pass along your advertising for free, all you need is something that people will find useful or entertaining, which they will happily pass to their friends and colleagues.. building your business for you…

It is an incredible viable way to generating traffic to sell a wide range of products and services.
