Whether you want to use Southport for a romantic getaway or center a family trip around this beautiful destination, there is sure to be something for everyone in Southport!

Amusement parks are a huge tourist attraction for Southport breaks. Camelot is one of the biggest amusement parks in Southport and can be a fun place to go if you’re interested in medieval times and want to be witness to a sword fight or jousting tournaments while you are there! There are rides suited to every age and if you’re seeking thrills, you can’t miss the Whirlwind rollercoaster that spins! Another one of the largest amusement parks you may want to make part of your summer 2008 holidays is Pleasure Land. This park also had rides for every age group and is also sure to be a great time had by the entire family!

If you are interested in taking a spectacular tour during your Southport break, you may want to include The World of Glass on your agenda. In this museum, you can wander through and be amazed at what can be made from glass! This beautiful artwork is not only a wonderful to gaze at but is also part of the many events that the museum holds. Wander through the Artisan Gift Shop and find the perfect piece of glass to take home with you!

The Southport Model Railway is another perfect place to take the kids for a true sight to remember although, many adult train enthusiasts will also see this as a once in a lifetime experience! One can sit and just look at the railway or you can pack a picnic and sit down in the beautiful surroundings with the model train as the backdrop to your perfect picnic! The train actually moves and it travels around over five hundred meters of track.

If you prefer to turn your gaze to the sky, you can always head over to the Southport Airshow. This air show is not only incredible to see the different planes but the planes will also do tricks while in the air to the sheer delight of the audience below. This is the largest air show in the North West and over 150,000 people go to check out the latest and greatest in the air!

You can also turn your attention to the course as Southport has some of the world’s finest and famous golf courses! The most famous course is Southport and if you visit this famous course at the right time, you may be able to catch some of The Open Championship during your summer 2008 holidays.

If you are taking a Southport break for a romantic getaway, you will want to definitely check out Meols Hall. This historical manor house is absolutely gorgeous and it’s been the location of several hundred weddings over the years. It sits on a huge lot and is open for many different things including corporate events. However, even if it just the two of you and there are no ceremonies planned, you can ask if you can just walk the property. The old-style architecture and beautifully manicured lawns are romantic enough just to take a stroll on!
