As days have advanced, numerous diseases have come to reign over the humankind. However, modern medical science is also not lagging behind and has wonderfully developed workable solutions for many of the diseases. Among those widest ranges of ailments that are quite serious in nature, is diabetes mellitus. Most of the times, it is simply referred to as diabetes. A malfunction of metabolism and at the same time a highly abnormal blood sugar is the major symptoms of diabetes. It is caused due to the lack of insulin hormone in blood. One more external symptom of this particular ailment is excessive production of urine owing to the high glucose level in the blood.

As far as the types of diabetes are concerned, they are mainly two. Apart from these two types of diabetes, there is gestational diabetes that attacks women mainly during their pregnancy. Accordingly, the treatments are also varied depending upon the nature of the disease. If not treated on time, diabetes mellitus may cause serious troubles. These associated risks include cardiovascular diseases, retinal damages, chronic renal failure, and damage in the nervous systems. In connection to this, adequate medication is needed to fight this disease in totality. Blood pressure should be strictly maintained during this time apart from the strict maintenance of glucose level. The risk factor in diabetes goes high when obesity is associated with it and most commonly this lead to cardiac failure. In this modern world, diabetes has become a common disease and treatments are various depending on the type of diabetes.

As diabetes is a serious ailment, we should be careful about the symptoms of this disease overall. The most common signs of diabetes are polyphagia, polydipsia, and polyuria. These are all medical terms for certain common disorders to be found in human health. For example, polyuria is frequent urination, polyphagia is increased appetite, and polydipsia increased thirst. Surprising is the fact that all the symptoms can develop quite faster even within a month. Polyuria and polydipsia are often combined with the resultant weight loss. Screening and diagnosis of this diabetes mellitus is done by the test of glucose level in the blood.

Diabetes mellitus has currently become a chronic disease in most parts of the world. In fact, it is one major form of life-style diseases to found so commonly in each three men out of ten. To prevent this disease, proper medication and treatments are of utmost importance. Insulin injections are the most common method to keep the insulin level in control. Apart from this, a regular monitoring of the disease is also required. In this connection, patients are now suggested self-monitoring of glucose level along with consistent physical exercises. Apart from, monitoring and exercise, a proper diet is also required for the maintenance of good health overall. These days, various footwears are also available for the prevention of feet swelling and sore. As there is no permanent cure for type 1 diabetes, only preventive methods can do the most in keeping the disease under control.
