For those seeking an affordable vacation, and accommodation in Montego Bay in Jamaica, you probably need to look at the top end of the bed and breakfast type of accommodation, rather than at the lower end of hotel accommodation.

When you arrive at the airport at Montego Bay you will be met by a driver, and my goodness doesn’t that get your holiday in Jamaica off on the right foot. As you look around at your fellow travellers, and you watch them carrying their bags to a tour bus, some will be travelling on for over two hours, you feel very special with your own driver and a short journey to Polkerris.

You will arrive at Polkerris and the first thing that you will be given is a glass of home made lemonade, and made very welcome.

Your air conditioned room is very large compared to most hotel bedrooms, with king size bed, fridge, TV with Sky, and room safe, and plenty of beach towels. The accommodation at Polkerris is very much up to the standard of a good four star hotel.

There is a lovely swimming pool and terrace right outside, with plenty of sun beds to lie on to view the bay, which makes you realise what a spectacular setting this is.

The breakfast at Polkerris is very good indeed, and is taken on the terrace. You can have a cooked breakfast of your choice every day along with local coffee, fruit juice, and a fruit platter, all of which gets the day off to a good start. By the way you can choose American or Island Style. The owners also have the Pelican restaurant down the hill, which is where the breakfasts come from, and where you can eat very reasonably indeed.

There is a huge advantage to staying in a bed and breakfast guesthouse, and one of them is the fact that you have the choice of local restaurants, and this will save you a good deal of money, and also you get the chance to experience life with the local people. In fact it is a short walk down a private path to what is known as the ‘hip strip’ with its shopping, bars and restaurants, or to Doctors Cove Beach which is the best beach in the area.

Polkerris is ideal for couples who are looking for an affordable bargain yet quality holiday in Jamaica, want to do some exploring, who don’t need five star pampering, or plastic food, but just want to relax and unwind in what is some of the best accommodation in Montego Bay.
