There are several definitive traits that are important to a well-written article. First, the article must develop your reputation as an expert. As the text reflects its writer, your article should be written well in order to show your expertise in whatever area you are discussing.

Articles must also be able to bring traffic to your site. The popularity of your site, and
subsequently the popularity of the products and services you are offering, depends on the amount of web traffic your site is receiving.

A well-written article must also aid you in building a database of potential customers, whether that is through a newsletter or through e-mail courses. This increase in the familiarity with your site will enable you to make connections with other sites, so that you can increase your web traffic even further.

The bare basics of an article can be covered by just about anyone, and writers can be hired to produce more articles to publish them on Internet article directories. Enticing your readers to be interested in the things you are offering is another thing altogether. You want them to click that link below the article. In order to do this, place your readers first in your mind when writing your article. Consider not just what you want to say to them, but what they want to know. Your task is to make long-term customers out of one-time visitors.

Some areas to consider:

1. Your readers’ interests. If your area of specialization is house-hunting, provide articles that discuss the housing market, ways to sell a house, and even how to find the best realtor. If you do not know these things, do your research! A great way to begin is to search Internet forums for details relevant to your topic.

2. A title and introduction that will grab the reader. Take time to consider a good opening. It should be interesting; you want something that will encourage them to keep reading. Write as if you are speaking to just one person. You want many people to be reading your article, of course, but you also want to have each of your readers feel you are addressing them individually.

3. Do not skimp on the details; include all important facts, tips, details and strategies. Use a relaxed and conversational style, however. Your readers want information, but they also want an entertaining article that is worth reading, so the text must be relevant.

4. End with a bang. Many writers allow the excitement to fade as the article draws to a close. Don’t be afraid to end with a laugh; a positive reaction on the part of the reader will prove very positive in the long run.

Your purpose in writing an article is to inform your readers, even more than it is to advertise. You’ll know you’ve attracted your readers when they click the link to your website, going from readers to customers with long-term potential, thanks to your article.
