Many people get inspired to persevere and go ahead with their weight loss plans when they see results. They get excited when results show that they have lost five, ten or even fifteen pounds within a certain period. However, there are phases in every weight loss program where one may lose hope and go back to old ways. This stage is called by many as the weight-loss plateau.

If you find yourself unable to lose weight, do not fret. You are not alone. A lot of dieters, especially those that opted to use crash diet plans, usually experience a plateau after three to six months of following the same weight-loss routine. If you want to shed some more pounds, read on to learn how your weight can drop some more.

Improve Your Metabolism

When an individual loses weight, his or her metabolism tends to slow down too. If you want to trim down further, you need to find ways to boost your metabolism. One way to do this is to build your muscles. Although cardiovascular exercises are important, these are geared more toward strengthening your heart.

If your weight loss plan is simply eating less, then you can probably add some fat-burning workout, like stair climbing. However, if you are already doing aerobics, jogging and walking, then you can probably start some strength training so you can concentrate on toning your muscles. Remember that the more muscle mass you have, the better your metabolism is.

According to experts, people need to make sure that while they are exercising, they are maintaining their ideal heart rate for at least 20 minutes. This means that you need to know how to calculate your ideal heart rate. If you do not know how to compute for it, just check the Net to find tools that can help you.

Eat 200 Calories Less

You also need to cut the amount of calories you take in everyday by as much as 200. However, you can do this systematically and make sure that you do not starve yourself. There are many low-calorie foods, such as vegetables and nuts, which you can munch on without feeling guilty.

You can decrease you calorie intake by getting rid of sugary drinks, such as sodas, iced blended coffees, alcoholic and other calorie-laden drinks. Another way to cut calories is by eating smaller portions. Instead of eating two chops, why not settle for one? If you are eating out, you can probably ask the servers for smaller portions. If not, you can always ask them to serve just half of the order and take home the other half. If you are eating with a friend, you can probably just share.

No Starchy Food During Dinner

Since you are probably just going to sleep after dinner, you probably do not need starchy foods to keep you energized. Thus, it is advisable to pass up the rice, pasta, corn, bread, and even peas from your dinner. Instead, concentrate in giving yourself non-starchy vegetables, such as cabbage, lettuce, carrots, spinach, broccoli, cauliflower, and many others.

Nothing After 8PM

Midnight snacking is not really taboo. Some people who need to work for extended periods sometimes need to snack on something to keep them going. However, if you do not have work or will just sleep at around 10 or 11 PM, then it would be wise to avoid eating anything after the clock strikes eight in the evening. To prevent you from munching on fries or whatever is inside your pantry, you should brush your teeth immediately after eating your dinner.

Try Some Weight Loss Supplement

Sometimes you need help with your weight loss. Taking supplements that can aid to shedding pounds may be a good idea if you are experiencing a plateau. However, make sure that the product you choose are all natural and does not contain harmful ingredients. Also, seek doctor's advice before taking anything, especially if you are already taking other medications.
