Spain is a catholic country with deep-rooted traditions as regards religion and faith. Christmas time is a special period to commemorate the birth of Jesus Christ and celebrate all together in family gatherings.

As you learn Spanish in Spain take part of the general excitement generated on every corner of Spain. Every house is decorated with colourful lights and Christmas ornaments, following the ancient tradition of lighting tiny oil lamps on every house.

Besides, a Christmas symbol in Spain that must always be present in every residence are the bonfires. Learn Spanish in Spain and discover why fire is so meaningful for the Spanish culture. The custom comes long before Christmas appeared. During the first day of winter people used to dance and jump over fires as a sing of protection against illnesses and as a way to receive the new season. Another important celebration during Christmas time is the Three Wise Man day. The next day the Three Wise Man will have left you any present you might have asked for.
