Don’t you just wish that you have a hair that will follow each and every of your head movement and never wake up to a bad hair day? Men and women are conscious about their hair and they want it to be in top shape all the time.

And in order to properly take care of it, you should know what type of hair you have. Yes, there are different types of hair. Here are some of them to shed some light to your curiosity:

1. Hair can be categorized according to race. It can be Asian, African or Caucasian. Asian hair is commonly black and straight but there are also Asian hairs that are wavy and few very curly hairs. African hair is usually black as well but they are tightly curled up and are often dry and frizzy. The Caucasian hair on the other hand is very diverse in terms of color and texture. It can be blonde, red, brown and black. They also vary in terms of shades; it ranges from really pale to dark. And they can either be thin, medium or thick.

2. They can also be differentiated by its body. Hair can be straight, wavy or curly. Straight hair appears to be shinier because the hair’s natural oil covers it better as compared with the latter two types of hair. With the many hair styling devices such hair straighteners and curling irons, the hair can achieve different types of body. But it is not recommended to shift hairstyles too often especially if the procedure includes chemical application and exposing the hair to too much heat as it can cause hair damage.

3. Hair also varies in terms of dry, normal and oily. Dry hair is the most prone to damage and breakage that is why it is not advisable for people who have dry hair to wash their hair often. If you have dry hair, use products that are developed for your hair type to care for it properly. In contrast, oily hair needs frequent washing but it has to be handled gently especially when it’s wet. If you wash your hair more than once a day, use a milder shampoo.

4. In terms of styling, hair is categorized in three ways. They are fine, medium or course. Fine hair is difficult to style because it doesn’t hold much plus, it is difficult for it to have volume. It can be easily damaged too. Meanwhile, medium hair is the most style friendly hair. It easily creates volume and holds almost all hairstyles. It can be worn in different ways depending on what style suits you best. You can either use hair straighteners to keep it simple or be more daring with waves and layers. People with course hair on the other hand have to use conditioner to keep their hair manageable.

There are different types of hair in the world. It can be categorized according to race, body, texture and thickness. Knowing what type of hair you have will help you care for it properly. It will assist you in making decisions in terms of purchasing the right hair product. It will also help you decide on what style will work best for your hair.
