Are you looking for that perfect Caribbean vacation destination? If you are, you will find that you have a large number of options. After all, the Caribbean is one of the most popular vacation destinations in the world! Despite all of your options, you should place most of your focus on Jamaica.

As nice as it is to hear that Jamaica is one of the best Caribbean vacation destinations, you may be wondering why. Did you know that a visit to Jamaica can be fun, exciting, adventurous, educational, and romantic? What more can you ask for?

If that wasn’t enough, the facts, history, and culture that surrounds the beautiful island of Jamaica is another one of the many reasons why it is a popular vacation destination.

According to the Jamaica Tourism Board (JTB), Jamaica is classified as a developing country. One of their biggest boosts for the economy is tourism. As a tourist yourself, this can give you great comfort and peace of mind. Since the country relies so heavily on tourism, a lot of time, work, and effort is put into making sure you have the best Caribbean vacation ever.

In keeping with the economy, many Jamaica businesses cater to tourists, just like you. As for your staying options, you will find a wide array of Jamaica resorts. Many of these resorts are all-inclusive, meaning the cost of your room, food, drinks, tips, and entertainment may be included in the overall cost of your stay. There are also wide ranges of attractions open to the public, as well guided hiking, jeep, and horseback tours.

On the island of Jamaica, they have their own currency; however, not much planning and preparation is needed for this. There are numerous exchange centers located on the island. In fact, most of the well-known resorts have exchange centers onsite or nearby. The only preparation steps you should take is determining the exchange rate for your country’s currency. With the economy struggling in most areas of the world, you may receive less than expected.

One concern that many tourists have when traveling outside of their country is the language. According to the Jamaica Tourism Board (JTB), Jamaica is the largest island in the Caribbean where English is spoken. This can help to give you comfort and peace of mind in knowing that communication barriers should not have an impact on your vacation.

In keeping with geography, another reason why Jamaica is a popular tourist attraction is because of the diverse landscape. Although Jamaica is known as a mountainous region, there is so much more to the island. The land is also home to numerous plains, valleys, and rivers. In fact, the Jamaica Tourism Board (JTB) states there are 120 rivers in Jamaica.

As previously stated, the Jamaica Tourism Board (JTB) classifies Jamaica as a “developing,” country. For many, this may cause health and water concerns. With that said, Jamaica has taken steps to create clear, clean, and pure water throughout the island. The Tourism Board states that while bottled water is available for sale, their water is safe for you to drink, bathe, and clean your clothes with.

As with most countries, Jamaica celebrates a number of holidays. According to the Jamaica Tourism Board (JTB) there are ten holidays celebrated each year, such as Easter, Independence Day, and Labour Day. Of course you can travel to Jamaica on these days, but it is important to know that many government offices and privately owned business temporarily close down.

When vacationing on the island of Jamaica, you will find multiple methods of transportation. If you stay at an all-inclusive resort, you may never want to leave. However, if you do decide to, you may want to rent a car. Jamaica prefers international licenses; however, those from the United States and the United Kingdom are able to use their country’s license for three and twelve months respectively. Just remember that in Jamaica, you must drive on the left side of the road, which is different from the United States.

The above mentioned interesting Jamaica facts are just a few of the many that exist; however, these facts may play a determining role in choosing Jamaica as your next vacation destination. If you want to learn more about Jamaica, its history, and its culture, what better way than to schedule a trip?
