Traffic Generation - Six Steps to Success

Home may be where the heart is, but it’s not always the place where you can earn money from. It’s all well and good that you’ve generated a tidy sum of money from all those marketing efforts you’ve made from your website, but if you want to generate more traffic you need to step out of your comfort zone and make use of all those resources that have long been available to you.

1. Create a blog.

Think of this as your second home because it’s something that you should update as often as you do with your website. A blog provides a more informal atmosphere for you to talk about business concerns and interact with your customers.

Through blogging, you can generate even more traffic by leaving comments on other blogs and having the favor returned. Through blogging, you can make a name for yourself, establish your expertise, and form friendly partnerships with other Internet marketers like you.

2. Join forums.

Forums are just like chat rooms and people go to them to make new friends and discuss various topics. Participating in forums can help you market your business in various ways. There, you can help other members solve their problems and with it, you can build a good name for your business. Once they realize that you’re truly good in what you do, they’re sure to look for that all-important link in your signature or profile page and come flocking to your website.

3. Submit to directories.

Online directories organize all sorts of data and it’s important to make use of every one of them. Submit a link of your blog to blogging directories. Submit articles and podcasts as well. For the sake of uniformity and search engine optimization, make sure that you provide the exact same set of data every time you make a submission.

4. Paid Advertising.

Lastly, there will be times that paying for advertising space is the only way to get the attention you need. Paid advertisements are not necessarily bad, but you need to make sure that what you reap from it will be greater than what it cost you.

Text ads are one of the best types of advertising to avail of. They’re simple but effective, not at all detracting from the layout of any website or irritating to the reader. Audio ads are also great. You can pay to have them included in popular podcasts or played in websites whenever a new page is loaded. If you keep your ads short but fun, listeners won’t be so bothered that they’d make the effort to skip your ad.

5. Social Bookmarking.

If you believe in the superior quality of your articles then why not let your readers add it? Post social bookmarking icons below every article you write and remember to end with an invitation for readers to rate your writing. If they do, your article will increase in terms of popularity and maybe even search engine ranking as well.

6. Video Marketing.

Finally, consider making a short video that’s informative but entertaining at the same time. It must offer something beneficial to your viewers. For an online business selling wines, a short video on how to distinguish the different qualities of wine would be interesting to its target market. At the end of the video, a link to the business’s website will achieve its marketing goal.
