Have you ever looked at a couple that has been together for a long time and still seem to be very much in love? Do they seem to just cliek and get along despite the length of time that they've been together? If so, you've probably wondered what secret they know that keeps them happy after being married for so long. With the divorce rates being so high and the ease of getting one, seeing a happily married couple is enough to make anyone curious. This article will explore some of the most important secrets of the happily married so you can implement them into your own marriage.

Communication –

Communication is probably the single most important thing a couple can have within their marriage. Without proper communication, any relationship will suffer greatly. In fact, without proper communication, most marriages will inevitably fail and fail miserably. Therefore, it is very important that couples are able to talk and express themselves regularly to maintain the closeness and strengthen bonds. Without open communication, small issues can build quickly into large issues such as resentment, anger and more – causing the eventual ruin of the relationship. Maintain communication, even if you talk to your spouse for a bit about mundane things like work and the chores. Take your time and tell them about your day. Tell them your feelings and express your concerns. Although you don't have to have a heart to heart talk every single time you open your mouths, communication should be a top priority in a relationship. By doing this, you will keep the lines of communication open.

Don't Sweat the Small Stuff –

Many times within a relationship, we allow small things to upset us and bother us. One of the largest things we can do for our relationships is allow the small stuff to simply roll off our backs. For instance, if Mary and her husband Mark are watching football and Mark stares at the cheerleaders until drool is practically running down his face – Mary could get upset. However, she could also realize that Mark is simply a man enjoying his own human nature and laugh at him. This is an example of the small stuff. Mary knows Mark loves her and that he is not going to suddenly jump into the television and run off with the cheerleader, so why even worry about it?

Know How to Say I'm Sorry –

Love does NOT mean never having to say you're sorry literally. When you know that you've done something stupid, said something inconsiderate or similar, don't be afraid to use those two words sincerely. Although sometimes swallowing our pride enough to say I'm sorry can be worse than swallowing our own shoes, which is more important; your pride or the love of your life? It is amazing how the angriest of hearts can soften and melt with the use of those words and a sincere, genuine hug and kiss.

Although marriage will always have ups and downs, following the advice in this article can make things happier, healthier and it can improve the bonds that tie a husband and wife together!
