Just for the record, it’s not up to me whether you care about how to reduce debt, reducing debt, creating debt or just simply debt. It’s none of my darned business. But here’s the thing, I care about what debt does to the lives of the people I know. I also care about what it does to society in general, it crushes families and causes marriage splits and ill health, so yes I care about debt and reducing debt. But only you know if you care or not.

Reduce Debt - You Need To Care

However it occurred to me that you can only care about things if you know about them, or if you’ve given them some thought. And let’s face it who wants to think about debt or even debt reduction. I avoided the topic for years as I believed it was out of my control and I just had to live with it. Foolish girl that I was, if only I’d started earlier, ggrrrrr, but start I did, and that brings us to you and your debt.

Reduce Debt - Think About It Now

Let me explain what I mean. Maybe you’ve never given your debts much thought, other than a ‘how the heck am I going to pay that debt?’ kind of thought. Or maybe you’ve given some thought to reducing debts, but not in a wider sense. Well here are some thoughts for you to consider, things that I care about, things that I think about when I see people struggling under a ton of debt, doing their best to reduce their debt, or being unaware how they got to have so much debt in the first place. With that said here’s what I care about, and you might too.

• How you feel when you check your bank balance, and when you get more bills in the mail.

• How you sleep at night, and how long you worry about paying reducing debt this month, and how to reduce some of last months debt.

• How you’re going to cope with unexpected expenses and how you’re going to manage if you get sick and can’t work for a while. Reducing debt would help here.

• How you’re going to manage if prices keep rising, if interest rates go up unexpectedly or if you lose your job unexpectedly. Reducing debt will go out of the window here.

• How you’re going to provide for your children if you’re working hard to reduce debt and don’t have much spare cash.

• How you feel when you see your childrens disappointed faces when they’re the only ones not going on the school trip because of overwhelming debts.

• What’s going to happen if you have a sick family member to look after and no medical insurance. Reducing debt will help here.

• How much money you’re losing in interest payments on credit cards, store cards and a mortgage. If you knew it would blow you away. A great debt reduction technique is to throw your cards away.

• That you don’t seem to know that you don’t need to have credit cards, store cards or have a mortgage for 30 years. No store cards equals huge debt reduction.

• The number of ‘things’ you have in your house or garage that you paid hard earned money for and no longer use or want, and probably didn’t need in the first place. A garage sale would certainly reduce debt.

• How you’re being lured into buying things you don’t really need, and don’t really want.

• That you may not realise you don’t have to take 25 years to pay off your home, you could have it FREEHOLD in less than half that time, but the banks don’t want you to reduce debt like that, they want you paying forever as that’s how they make a profit, good for them but not you.

• That you can’t afford to save the deposit for a home of your own because you have so many financial commitments –debts– to pay already.

• How you’re going to manage when you retire your income drops away and no-one will give you a part time job to help pay the bills because you’re too old.

• The quality of life you have now and the stress you might be under from financial worries.

• How hard you have to work just to keep afloat, let alone do something about reducing debts.

• How the debt you have is destroying your peace of mind, your security and your enjoyment of life.

• That you may not know the risks you’re running by having debt, and what could happen if you can’t make your payments.

• That you may not realise you’re paying a lot more for items than you need to when you use credit cards, hire purchase or use store cards. Any debt reduction is undone every time your purcase with a card.

• That you may not have realised your dreams yet, you may be unhappy with your life and you may be working in a job you hate because you need the money.

• That you may be separated from your family because you can’t afford to travel to see them.

Reduce Debt - You Must Care Now

Now at this point I hope you care about reducing debt. I hope you want to learn all there is about how to reduce debt, and how not to create any more debt. Read this again and be honest with yourself, are you happy with your current level of debt, are you doing anything to reduce those debts and have you stopped adding to those debts? Do you care? Good Luck.
