If you are like most homeowners, you have probably thought about the space saving option of using bar stools instead of chairs. Not only are bar stools elegant and functional, but they are often less expensive than traditional chairs, too. What surprises many people is the incredible selection and number of different styles that bar stools come in. We often think of bar stools as basic and don’t realize that most furniture retailers carry dozens or even hundreds of different styles, shapes and colors. The two most popular styles of bar stools feature finished wood or ones with leather seats. Let’s take a look at the advantages of both styles.

If you are looking for a traditional bar stool that will get ‘oohhs’ and ‘ahhs’ from your family and friends, why not go with a beautiful wooden bar stool. These popular cheap bar stools feature almost any color and style you could want. They can be unvarnished for a rugged, natural look or they can be stained any sort of color you want. The selection of wood bar stools is incredibly high, so no matter what décor, style or motif you’re going for, you will likely find the exact bar stool to meet your needs.

Now, if you are looking for a leather covered bar stool, you also have a wide number of stools to choose from. Since the leather covered seat usually has padding underneath, these bar stools tend to be softer to sit on for long periods of time and they also tend to be durable since you won’t be sliding off the edges and putting undue pressure on the tender wooden frame. A leather covered cheap bar stool will tend to be a bit more expensive than a simple wooden model, but if you are going for that classic sports room look or if you already have a lot of leather in your home and you want your new bar stools to match, you can’t really go wrong here.

If you are going to be using your stools in a high traffic area or in a home that is occupied by kids, you might want to avoid all wood bar stools and go with the leather seat covers. Kids tend to be a bit more careless with furniture than adults do and your bar stools will likely end up getting tipped over a bit more often than they would normally. When a bar stool tips over, the wood seat is the first piece to hit the ground. If you have a leather cover over the seat, the amount of damage to the bar stool will be essentially negated. However, if you are concerned about price, than going with a regular bar stool without the leather cover is a good idea, as well.

As you can see, deciding on leather or all wood cheap bar stools can be a tough choice. No matter which ones you choose, make sure you shop around for your cheap bar stools to make sure you get the best price.
