As a diabetic, it can be frustrating to receive certain gifts. Well-meaning friends give sweets thinking that it’s ok, but for some, the overload of sugar is just too much to regulate. This can also make gift giving to a diabetic somewhat challenging. You know your friend or loved one has a sweet tooth and you’d love to give them something nice, but you don’t want to send them to the hospital in the process. What can you do?

Consider sending sugar free holiday gift baskets. These baskets give you an opportunity to satisfy the recipient’s sweet tooth and be considerate of their health situation at the same time.

Here are some things to look for in sugar free holiday gift baskets:

Diversity

One thing that can vary widely with holiday gift baskets is diversity. You want to make sure that you are receiving a variety of candies with your sugar free basket. Some places will just send you a few sugar free chocolate covered cherries and feel that is sufficient, but your loved one deserves more! You want them to have the chance to return again and again to their basket of goodies and really enjoy a variety of items, not just one or two.

Ingredients

For the diabetic in particular, it is very important that they can see the ingredients of what they are about to eat. Many diabetics count carbs to monitor their sugar intake. Also, while a product may be “sugar free” – it can have other ingredients in it that add to a diabetic’s sugar count. When purchasing holiday gift baskets for someone that has a diabetic condition, if you can’t find the ingredients online, call the company and make sure that the ingredients are on the packaging so your loved one will be able to monitor their intake and know exactly what ingredients they are consuming.

Attractiveness

Another important aspect of purchasing holiday gift baskets is its attractiveness. How well thought out is the presentation of the basket? Were the items just “thrown” in there or are they arranged nicely? When your friend or loved one receives their gift, are they going to really like the way it looks and feel that thought and care went into the creation of this basket? In today’s green society, is the basket reusable?

Price

As with any purchase, price is always a consideration when purchasing holiday gift baskets. Is the basket well priced for the amount of gifts you receive inside the basket? Is there enough variety in the basket to also warrant the price? You don’t want to be paying a kings ransom just to receive a couple of boxes of sugar free cherries. Make sure that you’re getting what you pay for. Is the basket nice? One of the nice things about receiving a gift basket is that you can use the basket again and again. This is especially nice if the basket is attractive.

By taking these four points into consideration when purchasing sugar free holiday gift baskets, you’ll be able to give a gift that your loved one will not only enjoy, but will not threaten their health.
