You took the time to choose your ride carefully. That 2000 Integra G2 was not only voted the best tuner car, but from some of the rides you've seen they're also a slick-looking car as well. With your pink slip in hand it's time to choose the right parts to give your car that unique, ultra-tuned, look.

One easy way to get started is with a body kit. The problem is that choosing the right kit can seem quite daunting. There are more than 23 manufacturers who make kits for the Integra, and most of them make more than one style. With such a huge selection available, many people don't know where to start.

In this article we will cover Acura body kits. First we will look at the elements of a decent kit, and then we will cover 5 steps to a whole new look for your car.

Acura Body Kits: The Important Elements

Let's begin our look with what the elements of a good body kit consist of. There really is a wide range available, and what you choose really depends on what you want to do with your car.

A basic body kit consists of a front bumper (or just a cowl), a rear bumper, and side skirts. You will sometimes hear the same kits referred to as ground effects. The basic idea is to both lower your ride, and to give it a new look. Other elements may also be considered the kit: spoilers, hoods, and really any other part that replaces a factory body piece.

Whether you consider the other body elements to be a part of a body kit or not, you should consider ordering them at the same time. If you do plan to replace thehood, or add a spoiler, along with your ground effects; having all of these parts ordered at the same time will make getting them painted much easier.

Acura Body Kits: 6 Steps to Choosing the Right Kit

Choose a Brand / Style - When you begin to look at the wide range of kits available (start with a look at some of our own body kits), it quickly becomes apparent how many choices there is. The reality of it is that most of the brands out there will work just fine, so it really becomes about choosing your look. Take some time to browse the selection and find a look that fits your style.

Special Considerations - After choosing your style you need to consider a couple of things before placing your order. How low does the kit take your car? Will you require custom lights or exhaust to fit with the kit? If you answer those two questions ahead of time you will save yourself some disappointment. Nothing's worse than being ready to install a kit, and then realizing that you needed those projector headlights to match. Or, that your car will sits too low, and you won't be able to drive it without a suspension upgrade.

Get Your Parts - After choosing you style, simply order your parts. Remember to order any accessories such as suspension, lights or grills along with your kit.

Find a Body Shop - While you're waiting for the parts to arrive you should spend some time finding a body shop. Most times it is worth it to get a few quotes. You're likely to find that there is a huge range in pricing from your local body shops. When your kit arrives have it painted to match your car, and then it's time to install it!

Install You Kit - When your kit is painted you can either install it yourself, or have the body shop do it. Assuming that your car hasn't been customized before, most installations are as simple as following the instructions included with the kit.

Give it a Test Run - After you install your kit you should take it for a slow-and-easy test run. What you want to ensure is that your suspension is stiff enough (so that you don't knock the body kit with every bump), and that you haven't created any rattles with loose bolts, etc.

When you're sure that everything looks and works as expected you're done. Now you can stand back and admire your work. A simple body kit is an easy way to turn your Integra into a whole new car!
