SEO copywriting is a technique of writing viewable text on a way page in a way that reads well for the surfer. It is a style of writing that targets specific search terms and the purpose of it is to get websites ranked highly within the search engines for targeted search terms.

Copywriting uses words to promote a person, business, opinion, or idea. It may be used as plain text, as a radio or television advertisement, or in a variety of other media. The main purpose of writing this marketing copy, or promotional text, is to persuade the listener or reader to act; to buy a product or subscribe to a certain viewpoint, for instance. Alternatively, copy might also be intended to dissuade a reader from a particular belief or action. Copywriting is getting across the perfect message, with the perfect words.

As well as the viewable text, SEO Copywriting usually optimises other on-page elements for the targeted search terms. These include the Title, Description and Keywords tags, headings and alt text.

If you’re still left wondering why SEO copywriting is important then one of the ideas behind it is that search engines want genuine pages with content and not just additional pages, which are often known as doorway pages. These doorway pages are created for the sole purpose of achieving high rankings. Therefore, the engines cannot possibly view SEO copy written pages as undesirable, and the rankings they achieve tend to be as stable as those that are achieved by other search engine optimization techniques.

Within the online environment copywriting refers to the working content that is used to achieve higher search engine results. This includes the placement and repetition of keywords. SEO copywriting is about writing for human visitors as well as the search engines. It offers you fluent and readable content that is wrote in an SEO wise manner.

It has been said that not all websites are suitable for SEO copywriting; however I disagree with this statement. It was said that not all sites are suitable because they don’t have a significant amount of text and that if more text was placed on them it would ‘spoil’ the sites design but without a good level of text your site won’t appear within the search engines meaning that customers won’t be able to find your site so it won’t be your site that is spoilt it will be your business.

SEO copywriting is a specialised field that has the ability to make a website successful. It is about creating informative and easy to read content. It is also important to remember that getting a visitor to your site is half the battle; getting them to stay is just as important. This demonstrates that SEO copywriting isn’t just important for your ranking within the search engines but it is also important to ensure that the content on your website can hold the attention of your audience.

It is often said that there are three basic principles when it comes to SEO copywriting. These are as follows:

• Communicate your business strengths

• Develop content that will convert leads to sales

• Create content that is informative, succinct and search engine friendly
