Cyprus, known as the birth place of the goddess Aphrodite, is a popular tourist destination located near Turkey, Greece, and the Mediterranean.

Lefkosia is the capital of Cyprus. It combines the old and modern culture of this beautiful region. The city has an oriental feel, making you want to explore its beautiful streets and buildings. A museum can be found in the city, where in, its rich history can be seen through its different artifacts. Examples include:

1.Medieval walls – the walls that surround the city has been around since the 14th century. Those who occupied the city have fortified it through the years. Now it is a tourist attraction, where in, different sports can be done in the field. Aside from this, a public garden is also present, and a sculpture exhibition can be appreciated.

2.Faneromeni Church – one of the largest churches found in the city. During the Ottoman invasion, priests and bishops where executed and this is where their remains were buried.

3.Hamam Omeriye - this tourist spot was only recently restored. It is the one place people love to go to in order to have a relaxing time. The Ottomans bestowed this bath to the Caliph Omar.

Another popular tourist area in Cyprus is Paphos. Legend says that this is the island where Aphrodite came out from the sea. It is rich in architectural designs and history, which dates back to the twelfth century B.C. It is also noted that this is where the disciple Paul was flogged when he was spreading the word of Jesus. Paphos Castle is one amongst many popular landmarks in the region. It is found along the harbor. Here are several tourist attractions that can be seen on this island:

1.Tombs of the Kings – this impressive burial site is carved into a hill that has Doric pillars. The ruins are very well preserved although there has been no evidence that anyone with royal blood has been buried at the site. Its name was given because of the extraordinary structure of the tombs.

2.Kato Paphos Archeological Park – this park has ancient ruins that feature recently restored beautiful mosaics.

3.Roman Mosaics – are ancient ruins found in Paphos. They are considered as the most beautiful mosaics found in the world. They speak about the stories of people who lived in the area thousands of years ago.

Ayia Napa is another popular tourist destination in Cyprus. It is popular for its beaches and spectacular nightlife. It offers a wide array of water activities for the young and the old. This is from snorkeling to water sports. It also has a reputation for being one of the hottest clubbing spots, keeping you occupied during your stay in this once quiet fishing village.

1.Water World Water Park – it is the biggest water park in Europe. It has many slides and has an Ancient Grecian theme about it.

2.Dolphin Boat Safari – they offer a wide array of activities from snorkeling, diving, fishing, and sightseeing opportunities around their crystal blue waters.

3.Bars and clubs – there are numerous bars and clubs to visit in Ayia Napa. This would include the Bazaar Bar, Bedrock Inn, and the Ambassaden Bar.

The fourth most popular tourist spot in Cyprus is in Limassol. It is home to several archeological sites and museums, showing the rich history and culture of Cyprus’ second largest city. It is well known for the festivities they celebrate, namely the Wine Festival and the Carnival Festival.

1.Lambouri winery – it is the oldest and best winery found in Cyprus. They produce and distribute their wines in selected restaurants and hotels. They are proud to produce wines with the highest quality.

2.Kolossi Castle – it is one of the ancient ruins found in Limassol. It was once a military base that held a strategic location in Cyprus. This is also where it produces its main export product which is sugar.

3.Omodos Village - a historic village located in Limassol. It is said to be the wine center of the village. A festival is usually celebrated during the month of August. Aside from this, they have a large religious event on the month of September Cyprus, known as the birth place of the goddess Aphrodite, is a popular tourist destination located near Turkey, Greece, and the Mediterranean.
