Safety netting is used to either prevent people from falling from elevated surfaces or to prevent debris from falling onto people in hazardous environments. It is used in a wide range of industries and applications, and it is available in a variety of strengths, mesh sizes, and rope types for virtually any application that requires catching, containing, or barrier protection.

Safety nets should be used in any situation where human life and company property is threatened by falling debris or the possibility of a person slipping and falling from a high place. Many industries, such as the construction and vehicle service industries, are in fact required by OSHA to use nets for this purpose or face heavy fines as a penalty.

Safety netting in the amusement netting takes many forms. Often, it is made from UV and chemically resistant rope to make it more durable in outdoor and aquatic environments. Standard nets of all types and sizes are available for every major industry type, and custom netting can be ordered if a standard model does not provide an ideal fit for your particular environment. Your account manager at Easy Rack can help you make this determination to ensure maximum compliance with all regulations and maximize the safety of your personnel and supplies.

Amusement Safety Netting

Safety netting in the amusement industry takes many forms. Often, it is made from UV and chemically resistant rope to make it more durable in outdoor and aquatic environments. Amusements parks often used cargo-styled safety nets as containment barriers around playground equipment, and they use them as well for crowd and traffic control. Steel reinforced soft play safety netting makes for safe and enjoyable play in a contained environment. Orchestra pit safety nets form containment areas around theater stages and performance areas in schools and public arenas.

Baynets

These safety nets are used around a variety of unprotected floor openings in mechanical services centers. OSHA fall protection regulations require any type of open-pit area to be covered. Penalties for violation can be as high as $70,000. Places where baynets car commonly used include auto lube centers and auto dealership service departments. Polypropylene safety nets are also used around rail car, truck, and bus maintenance pits.

Construction

The construction industry could not function without safety netting for personal fall protection and debris containment. A wide range of nylon and polypropylene nets are used for both applications in a variety of construction types. In bridge construction, for example, debris containment liners prevent falling objects from posing a hazard to traffic passing below. Safety harnesses of all types, including retractable lifeline safety devices, are used in residential construction to protect personnel from falling from high places. These nets and harnesses are made from high-tenacity, synthetic mesh and can be combined with rope, wire rope, or webbing for additional strength and tenacity. Worker safety in commercial construction is further ensured by installing vertical debris netting around the perimeter of the building to protect pedestrians and structures below from falling objects.

Material Handling

The material handling industry is yet another vertical market that could not function without a variety of safety netting types. Retractable lifeline and safety harnesses are used here just as they are in the construction industry as a cost effective safeguard against fall protection. Cage nets are also heavily used in any type of work that involves placing employees on an elevated platform. Oil refineries frequently require this type of work and place these safety nets around the platform to act as a form of enclosure that prevents trips and deadly falls. Other types of safety netting are heavily used as barriers and containment systems, such as conveyor guards, rack pallet guards, and mezzanine guards. Made in a variety of mesh sizes to match specific environments, these nets are crucial to restricting access to hazardous areas and dangerous equipment, and are much more cost effective than the installation of solid, physical barriers.
