If you had all the money in the world, which car would you buy? Well, I’m sure each of us has his/her own dream car, but in the end if your car doesn’t figure in the list I am about to describe, then you probably don’t know all that much about cars! Let’s take a look at the best sets of wheels that money (and you need a lot of money for buying these) can buy.

The car on the top of the list, the most powerful, expensive, and fastest production car in the world, comes from the stables of Volkswagen - the Bugatti Veyron 16.4. With a top speed of over 400 km/h (253 mph), the car is named after racing driver Pierre Veyron. Volkswagen AG subsidiary Bugatti Automobiles SAS builds the car and then sells it under the legendary Bugatti marque. The Veyron is said to generate ‘1001 horsepower’ – that’s how strong its engine is! No wonder it’s perched at the top.

Next on the list is the Enzo Ferrari – named after the founder of Ferrari, the car was built in 2003. It uses the latest Formula One technology with the added advantage of incorporating certain features not allowed in F1, such as active aerodynamics. Once the maximum down-force is reached, it is maintained by the rear spoiler, activated by computer.

Pagani Zonda C12 F, which was introduced at the Geneva Motor Show in 2005, comes next. With a 3.2 second zero-to-sixty sprint and a top speed of 225 mph (374 km per hour), the Zonda F Clubsport is in the top bracket of cars, and deservedly so.

Koenigsegg CCX, a supercar, is next in line. Competition Coupe X gets abbreviated to CCX, commemorating the tenth anniversary of the test drive of the first CC car in 1996. The car is more suited for US markets, as it was built to comply with regulations in the USA.

The car which follows is perhaps best known as the German supercar, manufactured by Porsche. The Porsche Carrera GT has a top speed of 206 mph (330 km per hour) and accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 3.5 seconds.

Mercedes surely can’t be kept too far down this list – the Mercedes Benz SLR McLaren, a sports car cum supercar, is developed by Daimler Chrysler in collaboration with McLaren Cars. The SLR also uses the technologies used to power the McLaren Mercedes cars in Formula One.

Maybach is perhaps a car whose name is synonymous with class and quality. Derived from the Mercedes Benz Maybach, it was seen as a direct challenger to the Rolls Royce/Bentley, when it was introduced in 2002. The Mercedes engine in the Maybach generates 550 horsepower.

Rounding off the top ten are the Rolls Royce Phantom, the Lamborghini Murcielago and the Aston Martin Vanquish. The first Rolls-Royce Model presented by BMW (in 2003), the Phantom is a luxury saloon automobile which produces 453 horsepower. Meanwhile, the supercar introduced in 2002 by Lamborghini was seen as a successor to Diablo and the two-seater produces 640 bhp. The Aston Martin Vanquish came into the limelight as James Bond’s wheels in Die Another Day. The supercar, manufactured in 2001, is powered by a 460 hp engine and controlled by a semi-automatic transmission.

If you want to buy any of these cars, be ready to cough up – because the price ranges from 255 grand (in dollars) for the Aston Martin to 1.7 million dollars for the ultimate car, the Buggati Veyron. But if you do happen to have the cash, what are you waiting for?
