Really Simple Weight Loss Program That Works

Would you believe this if I told you that -- You are overweight for the most simple of reasons -- because you're eating the wrong foods, the wrong way with wrong types of calories and you're also eating meals in the wrong patterns each day.

Shall I tell you a simple four step plan that is tried and tested? This is usually practiced at homes in India, not necessarily from a weight-loss perspective but as a practice that has been passed on from generation to generation.

Step 1:

Eat at fixed times of the day and really pay attention to your eating. Fix up the times so that you are really hungry before you eat. Don’t ever eat to quell boredom, since more often than not you are eating when you are not hungry in such a case. If you are bored, stressed or upset, a better thing to do would be to do some good reading, going for a walk or simply talking to your friends, but never eating. Gradually when you develop this habit, you would also find that you are eating healthy wholesome food. It is a good idea to find ways to cut the fat down in your diet and go for fibrous foods.

Step 2:

Eat slowly. When we were young, our mother said “you must chew your food thirty two times before you swallow". While the number thirty two is not sacrosanct, the general idea is to chew through your every bite completely before taking in the next. This habit is something we have usually got out of, and yet it is very good for our digestion.

Step 3:

Get up in the morning and drink at least six glasses of water with a dash of lime. It may be very difficult at first but gradually you will be able to do it easily. Do not have anything for an hour after this. This cleanses your system really well.

Step 4:

Get up forum your couch, and move about. In other words, increase your physical activity. Get into the habit of walking for small errands, go for a bicycle ride, play a game of football, walk up the stairs instead of using the elevator or go for a swim. Enjoy your physical activity, reduce your pace and make it fun. Start looking at things that you missed before like seeing your children grow, flowers in the garden and hues of sunrise etc. In fact deep breathing of fresh morning air is supposed to be a panacea for all ills as per traditional Indian living. I have tried it and it really soothes your system and gets you ready for the challenges of the day.

These are lifestyle changes, not diet recommendations. So you may be dropping weight and looking better more incrementally than you like, but these positive changes will stick with you for life. Most important, learning to lead a planned life enhances the success of any other serious weight loss program that you delve into.
