If you are on holiday in Cuba, a visit to at least one of the island’s beautiful beaches is essential before you leave. Cuba has some of the best beaches in the Caribbean – the fine sand and clear warm waters make this a superb destination for scuba diving, deep sea fishing, or just for swimming and sun bathing.

Those who want to stay in one of Cuba’s luxury hotels as part of a beach holiday are in for a particular treat – some of the finest hotels and resorts on the island are located along the coast. Here are five of the best beach hotels in Cuba; each combining the pristine seclusion of a Caribbean beach and the top quality services and facilities of a five star hotel.

Playa Pesquero, Guardalavaca

Playa Pesquero is one of the biggest and most famous resort hotels in Cuba. The hotel takes its name from the beautiful beach that is (quite literally) a stone’s throw away, and it is decorated in a simple and elegant style, with marble floors and palm thatch roofs. The resort has many outstanding features, including nine restaurants, several bars, and a range of sports and activities on offer. The centrepiece of the resort is the amazing curvaceous pool, with its “swim up” bar that allows you to swig a rum cocktail without leaving the water. A true luxury highlight.

Paradisus Rio De Oro, Guardalavaca

Ringed by tropical forests and outstanding beaches, Rio De Oro is believed by many to be the best out of all of Cuba’s hotels. It is also only for adults, so you don’t have to worry about being pestered by children during your holiday in Cuba! The hotel is superbly decorated and designed, has all the facilities you would expect from a five star hotel, and even features its own luxury spa for complete relaxation.

Melia Las Americas, Varadero

If you are looking to combine a few rounds of golf with your beach holiday in Cuba, Melia Las Americas is the perfect choice of hotel. Cuba’s best golf course at Varadero is only a few minutes walk away (with discounts are offered to all hotel guests) and this classy, five star hotel overlooks the ocean, so you can alternate between lounging on the beach and playing golf at your leisure!

Royal Hideaway, Cayo Ensenachos

The name says it all – combining royal quality with peaceful seclusion, this is one of the best resorts for a relaxing holiday in Cuba. The hotel is set next to pair of unspoilt white sand beaches, Ensenacho and Megano, and the despite the size of the resort (with over five hundred rooms) the careful landscaping and spacious design allow it to maintain its secluded feel. Perfect for those who are after an isolated Caribbean retreat.

Melia Cayo Coco, Cayo Coco

The Melia Cayo Coco is loved by couples for its unique romantic atmosphere. The best rooms are those that look across the lagoon at the heart of the resort, and some of the rooms and bars are built directly over the sea itself. This Cuba hotel is especially recommended for honeymoon trips – it is a superb romantic getaway.
