A good friend of mine with amazing taste seems to always be in the know when it comes to accessories for the home that make a space more functional and alive.

Take for instance TV stands – far too many people think of this item as simply something to place a television set on, but my buddy told me of interesting ways to incorporate such stands into you home’s décor, making them a part of your home’s ambiance.

Let’s say you have a living room that isn’t very large. A huge entertainment center would swallow the space. However, a small corner armoire would be just the thing to showcase your TV. These things are compact and because they are built to fit into a corner, they don’t take up very much space.

This is a very important thing if you want to make your living room cozy. If something like a large overwhelming media center dominates the area, cozy is the last thing you will feel when lounging in the space.

Other TV stands can showcase amazing craftsmanship and detail, especially if they are made of real wood. One can come across exquisite creations with inlays and laminated surfaces that will keep it in great condition for years to come.

Admittedly, these types of TV stands tend to run towards the expensive range.

If you are working with a budget and can’t afford to plop down over a grand for an entertainment center but want something more durable than a local wholesale store will provide, it may be a good if idea to check with online services that allow people post classified ads. You are bound to find some real treasures for a bargain if you know where to look.

Admittedly most people won’t put a ton of investment in a TV stand, in fact, most will get something that will get the job done, tossing it aside to get a new one when the cheaply made piece of furniture breaks down.

While this can be understandable, there is a certain logic in paying a bit more for this type of furnishing.

1. You can find something that compliments existing furniture in the home easier when you go for a higher quality product.

2. Paying good money for a product means it is apt to be durable and won’t have to be replaced.

3. More expensive furniture items tend to have classic designs, meaning they will never go out of style.

4. Costlier entertainment centers and stands are often times aesthetically pleasing, and can bring more joy into the living area.

Indeed, it is the little things that can come together to create a vibrant, relaxing and warm home environment, accents and home furnishings can certainly add to that.

So, I think it would be more than fair to say that one thing I learned from my eagle eyed friend is that TV stands can be more than just utilitarian—they can also be a work of art that adds to the beauty and atmosphere of your home.
