The answer to the question "which foods are good?" might be obvious to some people but at the same time it can often leave others confused. The media can often be quite deceptive when portraying what it calls "good food." With so many unhealthy foods out there disguised as healthy options, this is definitely something worth looking into.

We will now go through a quick checklist so you can learn the nutritional value of what you are eating. You will eliminate belly fat faster this way. It's better to research first, and eat later!

Natural Foods Are Best

Foods that are in their most natural state are the best to eat. Processed foods often contain too much sugar and salt. While this may seem innocent at first it will slowly catch up to you. It is suicide on an installment plan. Although how much you eat is of first importance, what you eat comes in at a close second. So whether your food choices consist of protein, carbohydrates or fats try and pick the best options.

Foods that look like they just came off of a production line in a factory should be avoided. The less packaging, the more likely the food will be better for you. There are some exceptions of course.

The Best Sources To Acquire Protein

The best foods to get protein in your diet include chicken, fish, soy, turkey and lean beef. Eggs are also good but I would stick with the whites. Protein shakes can also be really beneficial and convenient to use. Whey protein is considered the best protein there is on the market. It is best to use a balanced approach and not rely too much on animal products. Think of disease, antibiotics, hormones, cholesterol, and saturated fat.

Things like pork and lobster should be avoided. You not only want to look good on the outside but also on the inside too!

The Best Sources Of Carbohydrates

Great sources of carbs include hot and cold cereals, whole wheat bread, rice, pasta, muffins, potatoes, and vegetables. There is a rumor going around that potatoes are fattening. It is not so much the potatoes but what you put on them. Don't drown your food!

Butter and sour cream contain tons of empty calories that your body simply doesn't need. The thing about healthy carbs is that they will keep your blood sugar stable and they will also give you clarity of thought.

A Little Word About Fat

Fat should be the least of your concerns because more than likely you are already getting enough of it. Stay away from saturated fats and choose healthy fats. Sources of good fat are natural peanut butter and peanuts, walnuts, almonds, safflower oil, olive oil, and flaxseed oil. Nuts might be good for you but they are also extremely high in calories. So be careful!

Watch Out For Chemicals

Processed foods often contain harmful chemicals such as sodium nitrate and should be avoided. Sodium nitrate helps to keep the color in meat and acts as a preservative. It is found in processed meats such as hot dogs, ham, bologna, salami, bacon, and pepperoni.

Canned meats such as tuna are fresh and do not often contain this harmful chemical. Sodium nitrate has often been linked to cancer and it is best to avoid it at all costs. If you are not sure check the label.

Using the foods above will help you in your quest to eliminate belly fat. Combining these tips with a sound exercise program will double your results. So make sure to do your homework and keep trucking!
