In the US, obesity is fast becoming an epidemic. Despite the efforts of many to trim down excess fat and weight, a lot of individuals are still struggling to find a miracle diet or exercise routine that can blast away all those nasty lumps and bumps. Due to desperation, quite a number of people are resorting to cosmetic procedures, such as liposuction and tucks, just to help them achieve the perfect svelte body that they are aspiring for.

Since not everybody has the means to spend fortunes for such procedures, especially now that the prices of commodities are soaring and the economy is not very rosy, it is but wise to find natural and relatively cheaper ways to shed pounds.

One weight loss program that seems to be the craze nowadays is following the French-way of staying slim. There are numerous articles, blogs and books about this method. And many people, including Hollywood celebrities, have confirmed that this program works for those who want to shave a couple of pounds or maintain their weight.

To know more about this new diet fad, simply read on and follow the French-style of keeping fit and slim.

Don't Be In A Rush

The popularity of fast foods has changed the way Americans eat forever. Instead of enjoying the food and eating at the table, many of us now eat lunch or dinner while at the subway, inside a cab, in front of the television or computer screen, or even while standing up in line. Thus, it is really not surprising that the average waistline of American women is now 36 inches.

If you want to eat less, try eating slowly. Make sure that you savor each bite and chew the food completely. Besides, chewing your food carefully is good for your gastrointestinal tract's health.

Set The Ambiance

If you eat at a French restaurant, you will realize that mood and presentation is a very important thing. Even if the serving of their food is minute, compared to ours, you will still feel satiated because all your senses will be tickled by the dish in front of you. It seems that the French have elevated food as an art form.

You really do not have to eat at French or posh restaurants everyday just to lose weight. The trick here is making the ambiance in your home more chic and elegant, even if you are just dining alone. Lessen the amount of food on your plate, but increase the drama. Use napkins, table cloths, placemats, and real plates and cups to set the mood even if the food you are serving your family is not that much or extravagant.

Don't Make Coffee Your Dessert

People in the US have been slaves to coffee to keep them awake and alert throughout the day. It is not surprising to see people walking on the streets with their super-sized ice blended coffee on hand. This beverage is actually full of antioxidants and has nutrients that are good for the body. However, coffee drinks that are loaded with milk, ice cream, whipped cream, chocolate and sugar can make your waist grow bigger. Even if you exercise and diet, if you still keep on drinking such full-packed coffee drinks everyday, you might find it hard to achieve your goal.

Coffee is not meant to be a dessert. Just like the French, enjoy your coffee in small cups plain or just with skimmed milk and a small amount of sugar.
