Aging is a topic that, like everything else, people approach in a number of different ways. Some people embrace all of the wrinkles the get, saying that they earned each and every one of them. Other people aren't thrilled with how they look, but they cope. Then there are the people who get extremely upset when they glimpse a wrinkle in the mirror.

These people would not need to get so upset if they had followed a skin care regimen. There are many different products on the market today that can help people halt the signs of aging, but there are also various natural skin care methods that can make a big difference in the appearance of wrinkles.

So, at what age should you start fortifying yourself with anti-aging skin care methods? It is generally best to start in your late twenties. Why so early? Because by that time your skin has probably been damaged by repeated exposure to the sun.

Yes, it's fun to go to the beach and get a tan – Coco Chanel proved that point all the way back in the 1920s. However, a tan isn't just stylish, it's also an indication of damaged skin. You don't even have to sunbathe to have your skin prematurely age because of sun exposure – it can happen when you're driving in the car, or really anytime you go outside.

Sun exposure has a tricky way of sneaking up on you as wrinkles or age spots. Have you ever seen a person who looked like they had a perpetual leather tan? That's a person who has some serious skin problems coming down the line for them if they don't start a skin care regimen.

What's the best way to start? Stay out of the sun! However, most doctors agree that it is a good idea to get about 15 minutes of sunlight per day because of the Vitamin D. Aside from that, wear sunscreen (yes, there are non-greasy ones available) or long sleeves/pants and a hat.

Of course, sometimes sun damage isn't actually the root of the aging problem – sometimes the problem is in poor nutrition. Have you ever noticed that anemic people look pale? It is because the skin loses a healthy glow when it lacks in Iron. The same can be said for other essential vitamins and minerals.

So, an important part of your regimen should be making sure that you eat healthy food. Things like vegetables, fruits, and fish rich in protein help maintain the supple quality of the skin tissue. Also, well-hydrated skin makes a big difference as well. How do you hydrate? Start by drinking lots of water on a regular basis. Water flushes out impurities that can embed themselves in the skin.

You're probably wondering what kinds of over-the-counter products would work as part of an anti-aging regimen. Well, the best place to look is at the makeup counter at your local department store. There should be at least one line of skin care products (which will be expensive) that will help stop the aging clock.
