It’s equally astonishing and gratifying to realize that one-third of the world is able to effectively communicate in Spanish. However, there is nothing more rewarding in learning the said language than actually going to Spain.

The persons and places that make up the Spanish culture should inspire every individual to learn about the richness of their language. English adaptations of the works of these Spanish artists and directors are sold in the market but experiencing them in their original language satisfies all of your five senses --- making the experience more rewarding.

Famous People

Isn’t it wonderful not to rely on hard-to-follow subtitles when you are trying to appreciate the works of famous Spanish directors and actors? Sometimes, when their works are translated into another language, English for example, the full range of emotions that were originally intended by the films are diminished, or even eliminated.

In the film industry, the name of Pedro Aldomovar rings a bell as a tribute to his magnificent works such Entre Tinieblas and Habla con Ella. If you are fluent enough in Spanish to appreciate these films in their original language, you will know why such director is labeled as the enfant terrible of Spanish cinema. Again, be carried away into the other part of the Earth through the incredible acting powers of world-class Antonio Banderas and Penelope Cruz.

And hey, don’t overlook the embodiment of Spanish suave and romanticism! Julio Iglesias serenades the world with his Spanish songs and his son, Enrique, is carrying on the tradition. While you can still sing to these tunes without having to fully understand the lyrics, that experience will be nothing compared to the opposite. If you are still asking for more reasons to learn Spanish, then let these balladeers do the talking.

The Spanish Places to Be

Travelling to Spain lets you see the beauty of the country, its people, and its language.

Treat the party animal in you by visiting Ibiza. Acquaint yourself to a different kind of partying, ever heard of disco sunrises? Shake to the groove of international and local disco music and experience parties in foam and water. Besides parties, Ibiza is also famous for its World Heritage sites.

If you are into structures and architectural wonder, visit Cordoba. It offers magnificent architecture in buildings like the Mezquita and the Palace of Viana. Barcelona and Madrid are also known for their historical spots and magnificent architecture.

You may visit these places without having to learn Spanish. Then again, it would be better if you could speak the native language just so you would not appear like a clueless tourist, or an ingratiating snob, or an easy target, or a bothersome individual who needs translating every other word.

Spain is also known for its fine wine and food. And who could ever forget siesta? Oh yes, while rubbing elbows with the warm Spaniards during meals, you may also take this chance to learn Spanish firsthand. After all, there’s no better way in learning a new language than practicing to use it in front of native speakers. And no other circumstance can lead to such proximity with them than giving yourself a Spanish holiday.
